I now listen to 1650AM. I find them adhering to "more music, Less talk". Potpourri now has too many advertisements and less of music. Geetmala (100.7FM) in the evening is nothing but advertisements. Every time I tune there, they are interviewing someone who is selling something and "they are always the best", according to the host.

So? Is there any rule that radio announcers should be young? They cater to a wide age range - so any person with a good hold on HFM is good to perform that duty.

Otherwise, they become irritating like that young lady at 8 AM on 530, who cannot speak a single line in pure Hindi

Its not the age I have an issue with, its the way they talk, like they are having tea at someone's house and just carrying on a dull conversation. Anyway if you like the hosts then good for you .. at least you have something to listen to.

But I think going by the posts here most find the DJs irratiting. Have to say 1650AM is still pretty good with less talk, more music. And if they do talk its generally useful with content.

If you guys are interested, you can listed to 'redfm' online, which is based in Vancouver. Some of the shows and the RJs are relatively good and air good hindi music. Here's the link:

Click on 'listen live' on the top right hand corner.

By the way, I am also of the view that Indian FM/AM channels here in Canada are of no match to the ones in India - like radio mirchi, redfm, radiocity etc. Also, Dubai's online 101.6 is awesome too.

Radio channels here are mostly family owned and they hire anyone from within their immediate family members (looks like) - same old bhai bhatijawad. Hence, we have a really pathetic RJs.

How we can find India in Canada. But in last few years lots of new radio shows (with new hosts) have started with bollywood songs otherwise before there was nothing except few punjabi songs. There's big difference listening radio on internet and live radio.I enjoy drive time shows and new talent with nice music.
