Just wanted to share my experience with newly migrated friends.
When I landed in Canada I was conned by a placement agency "****** PLACEMENTS" they made me sign a contract on the pretext of getting me a job and assisting with my professional development.

I was made to sign a contract that said that I would give them $4000 if they got me a job of my interest and in my field.

I did not get a job through them and after about 2 months they sent me a court notice stating that I owe them $4000 and if I don't pay that they would go to court.

With all the insecurities of being a new immigrant I had to give them the $4000.

Worst of all it was a Desi employed at the agency because of which they were able to con me...

I was a fool but I hope this acts as a heads up for all new immigrant brothers.

I have full sympathy with you! You should have checked the things before.

However when you say that "you have to pay only when you get a job", than how can they force you to pay anything, if you did not get any job?

There are some community lawyers who can fight for you, you might want to approach them. You might still get your money back.

Second, you put the company name directly on this board. They might take action against you for defaming them! Remember, this site is searched by search engines regulalry. What I am doing is removing the company name from the board.

Those who want to know the company name - should contact you personally.

I am sorry for putting the company name there but do bring this to the attention of other desis... as I did come across other people who had to go through the same thing..

When you sign the contract there is a small print that says that they are not responsible for getting you a job but assisting you with it, hence I had no choice.

Did speak to a few lawyers.

I should have been more careful
