You two are in your Thirties and also have a baby and are looking for a good future. It also goes for your Baby too. It is a smart move. DO IT.
Everyone lands here in Canada and they do not have a clue as to where they are or have landed and how they will go about finding a place to live or get some food on the table or move about and settle down. But it all comes naturally and a few pick it up fast and I am sure you both will be able to do the same here. (Or there in Halifax)
When you get an entry through PNP system, the Government knows that there is a demand for your qualification there and it has not been filled and hence the opening there for you. Plus they also see the rate of attrition before they provide you with an entry. Needless to say they have recognized your abilities, I mean Both of yours, before they will let you get in.
As far as I can see you both are well settled. How you will adjust to it depends upon if you both want to continue to live and carry on there in Halifax permanently. Some do and a few don't. So, you both have a choice. Also you can move to the Greener pastures later on in life. So, make your entry and see how well you both feel for the first two years and then decide to head to a different part of Canada. You may enjoy it too.
The basic salary will be around $40,000 Can. The cost of living there is slightly lower and the people are very friendly and I hope you will find a few good people too, as friends for starters and appreciate each other as you settle down. Every little bit helps.
It will be a few good months before you reach Halifax and by then the baby would be older too. You would have completed your medicals and got all of the immunity shots etc., and will be ready for the travels. What ever you do, prepare well prior to landing.
You will need an address, a phone number or two and all of the Banking facilities plus the SIN number to get started here in Canada. Also get one for the Baby also. That will enable you to apply for all of the benefits for the kid. Currently it is about $533/month CCB (Canada Child Benefits) They have slightly changed the name to this to confuse all of us, but is the same one and it is totally FREE, once you start to receive it. Save it for the kid's Education separately or use it as you deem fit. That is a bonus. That is the BEST news that I can provide here to cheer you both up.
AND, if you network with a few after landing, you might be able to work out of your home for a few hours and make a few good bucks to go with it too. There are possibilities and it is worth exploring them. You have lots of time to look into it after you both settle down. All of this is only if you want to forgo your sabbatical.
There are posts that will appear here and they all reflect a side that either they have heard of or experienced it by themselves and in these days when the economy turns down and the established people who are without jobs start to scream, a resentment enters the picture and each one coats it with a different colour than fight it to eradicate the same. The more we expose these bigots the better it gets into the open and we all can do something to remove it than live with it.
It is nice to have a cross section of posters with all of their opinion here, just to get to know how difficult is it that they find living here in Canada. But at the same time, I want more people who are qualified and can do better to land here and not only work for themselves but also for the rest of the locals here with their contributions and prosper well. We need to build this country up to the level that we miss currently.
I am an optimist and I see things in a different manner and outlook and I wish I was there in Halifax getting you three settled than vent my views or pour out the problems and discourage a couple who want to get their lives going and to whom the Nova Scotian Government has laid a RED carpet with their doors open and with a warm welcome to see them get in. Do tell me how many get a PNP or an ITA with a PR application!
So, put up a bold front, prepare well, get all your qualifications and papers in order and hop in on a flight and get to see it for yourself how Halifax is. AND, I know you will love it, snow and all. The best part is becoming a part of us and enjoying all of the good things that you only get to hear or some one tell it to you. Now you are here to tell others.
Good Luck.

Hi Group Members,
Wanted to take your suggestion : We(My husband and I) have 10 years of experience in IT in India. We have received provincial nomination from Nova Scotia and our PR application is in processing status, we are hoping to get Canadian PR soon.
We do not have job offer right now, we will move there and find jobs.
We are confused whether to make move to Halifax as we have heard job opportunities in IT are less there. We have a 2 month baby as well and I intend to take sabbatical for 1 year at least.
My husband is in core technology and works on Big Data, Hadoop and Java.
I primarily work on SAS and Data Analytics.
Will it be a good move for us and will it be easy for us to get opportunities there?
Your suggestions will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Natasha
Guys,
I spoke to her for like 28 minutes.
Please be genuine in your replies. There are ofcourse some common pitfalls which may or may not be applicable to her.
Both she and her husband are in very good job and they will surely earn very well in Nova Scotia. After the cumpulsory or mandatory 2 years, they can move with their NA experience to Vancouver, where the climate is mild and their life will be heaven.
Job wise they are OK. But they will have to weigh it with leaving their relatives, relatives / maid help, depressing cold, leaving their family etcc. which they will have to take a call.
We can only pray that they will make the right decision and immigrate and that they will pay their taxes which will uplift the economy.

Well I can tell you one thing after lived in Nova Scotia, that people are really nice. You need to be communicative and take the first step, they will reciprocate well.
I myself has been in IT and enjoyed every bit of my stay in Canada, now I am back in India for good. In your case, my advice is that you should give moving to Canada a try. If you don't like it, take citizenship and move on T1 to USA or return to India. I really don't see any risk, its fun to meet people from different cultures it expands your horizon.
Even if you guys combined in IT earn 100K which is not a big ask even in Halifax say in a years time you will be on path to buy a house and settle in Canada. CGI is one of the big employers in Halifax, but do venture out to small product companies though risky but its worthwhile getting out of comfort zone.
When you are in Halifax, do visit Cabot Trail in summers and during winters check out YMCA activities. Try to make friends and trust me your need for socializing will be satisfied to some extent.
ALL THE BEST!!!
