we are bringing some basic pots pans and other basic things along with us.
Rest furniture, rent and internet connection , phone will be the expense.
. So you need NOT buy new mobiles here.
..especially stuff like Rotis, Chappatis etc. Most Indian women hate electric coils over here & prefer the Indian gas burners.

.

. Depending on your location, you even get some US channels for FREE.
Oh , I forgot , TTC is FREE for kids under 12
, so your son will be travelling for FREE with you
Initially for the first week I will advice you to get a Weekly pass or Day Pass, for Both of you, depending on your need .
https://www.ttc.ca/Fares_and_passes/Passes/index.
You wiil be making lot of mistakes in the first week, getting to know the buses, subway etc, so the weekly pass will come in handy. You will take the wrong bus, will get down at the wrong stop , in the first week. So if you are using TTC tokens or cash fare, you will waste lot of them, while making these mistakes
.
Plus first week, pretty much each day you will be going to 3-4 places a day, so you Don't want to pay a fare each time ! Weekly pass or Day pass will be handy
On Holidays, Sat, Sun : 2 or more People can travel on 1 Day Pass
For both of you, you will have to travel extensively in the first week or so looking for apartments, groceries, visiting shops , getting to know the city etc ( son can travel for free )
Monthly pass is not worth it right now, as almost half the month is over
and it starts from 1st of month.
From October 1 , ask him to go for a monthly pass. You might not need it, as you are probably not working, so walking and TTC tokens might be enough for you
. Or you can borrow his pass ( its transferrable ) on evenings, weekends, holidays to travel around
You calculate what you NEED , depending upon how much trips you will be making, whether TTC tokens, Weekly Pass, Day Pass or Monthly pass is cheaper, economical, feasible and practical for you and your family
You might see some Mississauga Transit buses in your area, they are different and DON'T take TTC tokens, passes and vice versa . So don't get on them, unless you are going to Mississauga
Don't worry you and your family will be fine over here. We are just Trolling over here most of the time
Most people who come here from Metros like Delhi, Bombay, Bangalore etc are already quite westernised.
They are already used to a fast life, technology, smartphones, internet , corporate cluture etc. language is also NOT an issue as most of them are already very fluent in English . They are smart, polished, refined and quite sophisticated
After a few initial hiccups here and there, and some minor mistakes here and there, immigrants from Metros pick up things fast and learn quickly and settle down quickly
. Your family won't be any different.
Things are actually more easy over here, with good infrastructure, good customer service, no corruption, law and order, no red tape, no bureaucracy . Things are more organised and structured and regulated over here.
There are rules and regulations and guidelines and timelines for everything over here, people also generally follow them due to commonsense and civic sense and due to consequences for NOT following them like fines, penalties, even jail time. None of these things exist in India, if you have money or muscle power in India, you are above the law and no one can touch you and rules don't apply to you
Things are more chaotic in India and unregulated.
We applied for OHIP card in the 1st month. We should be getting it bny this month along with PR card.
BTW, SIN needs no address. SIN is given on the spot after immigration. There is a counter in the airport where you fill a form & they immediately give a printout of your SIN. Keep it safe.
We're yet to enroll for a family doctor.

Try to get a good family doctor, ASAP , they are hard to find and get, as most don't take or accept new patients, as they have full capacity.
Without OHIP card, you will be wiped out, if you have a medical emergency and don't have private medical insurance.
