If you are DESI , you will ONLY have desi friends at the end of the day..however WHITE you pretend to be & however westernised you pretend to be .

I actually have a few close non desi friends..a few White & even Black friends.

But when they do westernised things like clubs & bars etc..I don't really go with them much.

But when it comes to going for BBQ, Picnics , Movies, Restaurants, Coffee shops & casually hanging out at each other's place ( Not for dinner or lunch, but just going at their place )..I go with my NON desi friends.

Well said by AT. Birds of a feather flock together .

Canada is vast and based on the above it depends where you are to determine how your social life will be ..For sure it will be very different in Yellowknife to Toronto .

We were in Halifax for nearly 2 years and due to less Desis /Immigrants had a small social circle and a low social life ... Made one feel like an alien ... The feeling disappeared upon moving to Ontario where we have a much better social life and never feel like an alien as even when visiting grocery stores / restaurants / temples .. you come across lots of Desis .
