OCI/PIO only allows you to have a NRO/NRE account . You can't have an ordinary resident Indian bank account on OCI/PIO/NRI status ..so you have to convert your Indian ordinary bank account to NRO/NRE if you are still living abroad.
In your case its OK , bcoz you are now residing in India ..but if you are living abroad as a Canadian citizen with OCI/PIO you can legally only have a NRO/NRE account and NOT an ordinary resident account with one of the Indian banks.
