Hi,
I am planning to travel to India to get married. So we are planning to get married via Hindu Marriage Act
Does CIC immigration (Canada) require that the parties also have a civic marriage (court marriage)?
I think in India that is referred to as Special Marriage Act ??

If both the parties are hindus, then they can get married by hindu rites and get the marraige registered in court.
Special marraige act is for couples having different faiths.

In all circumstances, you need to get marriage license from the court.

I can share one experience from 2005 of a Canadian marrying an Indian, the wedding was a regular hindu wedding in India but for the certificate it needed to be registered. To get the registration done, a certificate from Canada is required saying the person in question is not married and a witness was required (I forgot how they were called but some IAS/Allied service ranked people / first class who could attest to the wedding.
