I want to check if there is any number that I can call from India to check the status of my PR card status which is yet to be delivered after I made my first landing in Canada. Now I have come back and have not heard about the progress and have no clue what is going on. Can someone advise me of a number where I can call and request for the status of the PR card.

You can contact them via skype or Google talk by dialling 1-888-242-2100

OR via traditional telephony from outside Canada by dialing:

613-944-4000.

Once you get through, press 1 for English, then 2 for immigration. You will hear a click and silence after you dial 2. Do not hang up. You are being transferred to Citizenship and Immigration. Then press 1 for service in English, then press 1 for information on Immigration, then press 1 for information regarding Sponsorship, then press "0" to speak to an attendant.
