Hi,

As requested by CIC New York to submit my passport to stamp PR Visa,
I had sent my passport to CIC New York for PR stamping on 23rd June. however I made one mistake of not sending return envelope.

When I checked with CIC NY, they replied my email saying that they have returned my passport on 15th July by regular mail.

Today is almost 17 business days and I have not received my passports.

Now I am worried about my passport and I really don't know how to proceed further. I would be glad if any one can help/guide me what is next step to follow up my passport.

Thank You so much.

Contact CHC in New York and ask them to which address it was sent to. That is the only way you will know where it went. Mention in that letter that you are afraid that it will be considered as lost in the mailing system, as it has not appeared as of date, at your address.

Also contact the Postal Systems in New York and Canada and inquire about the Passports, with details, and see if it has appeared in any of the Dead Letter Offices.

With these supporting letters and e-mails, report it to the Police here in Canada that the Passport is there by reported, as lost in the mailing system. (Quote the Passport number etc., if you have the details of the same,)

Starting today, prepare to obtain New Passports by obtaining the forms , pictures and then look for a Guarantor and the supporting documents.

You should consider it wise to courier these items through reputable Courier Companies in the future, as there have been a lot of misgivings in the insecure regular, cheaper postal methods.

Freddie.

Hi Freddie,

Thank you so much for your suggestions, and I realized that I did very stupid mistake.

I contacted NY post office, but they are refusing to help as its a regular mail and they can not track it.

I checked with Canada Post and it seems they also can not track it as there is not tracking number and its a regular mail.

I am researching on web and also checking with my friends, it seems, sometimes regular mail takes more than 3 weeks to deliver and so on.

I have all copies of passports etc, so I will start on lost passport reporting and new application as well.

I will inform CIS as well about this incident.

I have one more question.

Once I get the new passport, will CIC stamp it again ? and what is the process ?

Thanks again for your valuable advise.
Shalini

You can request them to stamp and send the Passport 'by courier' to you and they might waive the fee for it. You please send them a prepaid way bill from Fedex or Purolator. (Call them or send an e-mail and request for the free stamping.)

You can quote the loss of the old Passport and also send them a Police Report to substantiate the request.

Freddie.
