"The majority of subscribers to Canada's new wireless services are being lured from incumbents Rogers Communications Inc., Bell Canada and Telus Corp., rather than customers who are picking up a cellphone for the first time, new figures suggest.
The revelation, among other developments, may revive concerns among investors that upstart players will wreak more havoc in Canada's traditionally staid $16-billion mobile market than has been assumed, analysts say."

I don't know who is new and who is old. They all have been on the scene for a couple of years.
Federal Government’s decision to allow foreign-backed cell phone company Globalive to operate a wireless service in this country will open up the market for competition that was not known under the previous oligopoly operated by Telus, BELL, and Rogers.
Maybe finally the days of the 30 cent cellular minute will be a thing of the past.

THE STUFF IN THE PIPE LINE:
4G is being delivered. It is non-backwards compatible transmission technology and new frequency bands. The first was the move from 1981 analogue (1G) to digital (2G) transmission in 1992. This was followed, in 2002, by 3G multi-media support, spread spectrum transmission and at least 200 kbit/s, soon expected to be followed by 4G, which refers to all-IP packet-switched networks, mobile ultra-broadband (gigabit speed) access and multi-carrier transmission.
EVEN this is half Baked. the other half will be delivered some time in the future. Costs are about 80 bucks plus HST??!! A cool canoe or a Brown Borden!
Freddie.
