It also has the highest population of drunks and most of the keralites are abroad..

I have been to kerala and it is no exception to the rest of the country where ever there is a significant density of people.... But it is also one of the few places where green tracts of land are still available..

The guy took some back water tours and generalized about kerala..

So true. I wonder why he made exception for Kerala.

From what I know of Kerala, it holds the highest percentage of literate population. Also, the people seem to have a higher degree of civic sense compared to most other states. This tends to translate to cleaner everything. Mind you, everything I said above is on a relative term compared to rest of the states. Maybe that's why he exempted Kerala.

Dude are u telling me india has no discriminition.. Indians discriminate far more than any other race i have seen..

Be it based on language , caste, religion..we do it all at a scale that is far more visible than in the western countries , but we just dont want to call it discrimination.

Do as search on ur past posts and read if u were white u would be labelled the leader of KKK and if u were black the leader of the black pather..

Canada did not forcibly ask anyone to come here.. Everyone came here by choice and can leave by choice.. so i dont see ur argument.. yes the job market for educated people is quiet tough here mostly because of outsourcing, if canada stopped outsourcing to india and china , we would not be in this mess..

So again the blame goes back to our home country..

This is a country where communication is given more importance than skills.. and until u understand that u will never be able to succeed, mind u being able to write 10 sentances is not communication, there are other aspects that most immigrants are not well versed at like oral , behavioral etc..

Of course, we could also write tons of stories how Canada discriminates immigrants (in terms of how they are denied access to jobs that the locals enjoy) and how it falsely probagates to bring immigrants to boost the head count. However that would be Canada bashing....

I disagree to a great extent. There are so many non IT / Finance people from the cream of the society from the Gulf / India still unable to secure decent jobs. It is just a excuse that well settled Desi IT people use to justify other Desi Non IT people not getting jobs. This is a country where equality is only on paper and not on practice. The Govt. thinks one thing and the reality is other. They just spew crooked statistics to decive.
I have been here for 8 years and seen it all. At a junior position, I have seen many PM'ers who have been appointed to positions based on their country of birth and education (Mind you. I am not talking foul of Univ. graduates from Canada who have better skills than Desi's. I am talking of low level locals)

Hi TK,

I am not saying there is racism here, but compared to india or the gulf it is far lesser.. and it may be more so in non IT fields because jobs are even lesser in these areas

U have been here 8 years , u dont like the situation here , why dont u move back or wherever u think it will be better.

If i was in ur situation i would have moved back 7 years ago..

U have not seen the change in the last 8 years thats why u are crying about canada.. everywhere the job market has tightened up..

If ur field is not working get retrained and try something else..

Get real , stop procrastinating.. complaining gets u nowhere.. Action will take u somewhere..

I agree to everything good about Canada and bad about India, but i have returned to India on 22nd April 2010 and it was a well thought decision. The Pie in Canada is small and too many people fighting for it, also there's no meat (high taxes and no savings). I cant imagine myself living a poor life in a rich country.

About me i use to work on a cruise ship making good money for 4 years in USA.

I don't buy the theory of English skills as a reason for poor paid jobs among Immigrants.

Canada discriminates at every steps, if you have decent language skills Canada wants Canadian education and if you also have that they need Canadian Experience...... and if you have everything they do not have the jobs and you have to re skill for a different job.

My decision to relocate back to India was because it was difficult for me to give up my Indian Citizenship (my identity) , I am everything because i was born in India.

I did experience Canadian health care system and did not find it better, on the contrary i met a practicing nurse who would go ganja/weed every evening.

The thought of blended families scares me.

I do remember a declassified report which came out from UK Foreign office about Canadians and after my experience i agree to it.

Back in India its 40 + everywhere but after two Canadian winters my body is thawing, i have stopped criticizing and started accepting things cultures and people. (Just taking more time to get used to right hand drive).

In India everything is so booming, no sign of recession.

In India telecom rates are so cheap, now i am connected to internet via my mobile and paying just 98 INR per month.

My Dish connection has more than 200 channels and i just pay 400 INR

I had thought only Indian businessmen are shrewd, but after Canadian experience they look so human.

Last one month i had connectivity 24*7, but i may have been online only for an hour, just trying to interact with people the real way.

The best part for me in Canada was fishing (and stupid Poutine), and my quest for the saying in USA about Canadians.

I came to Canada for all the reasons mentioned in the article , but upon reaching here and spending the wintres , I feel that Indian climate is much better than the harsh winters over here ...

Obviously the author has no bonding with India and would not be able to see India from our point of view ... the bonding with relatives , friends , culture , festivals is not wasy to sever .... of course there s pollution , crime , population but it certainly is not a one sided decision for some ...

It is unfortunate what the writer has written but should admit it is true. Anyone who has visited the Tajmahal and had the unfortunate experience of exiting through the wrong gate will experience Agra at its worst. There seems to be no semblance of administration in Uttar Pradesh. Agra station at worst can be described as a hole! All this in a place which is truly unmatched anywhere in the world as far as the monuments are concerned. I feel given the potential, Agra can attract incredible amount of tourists only if we had a responsive government.

At the same time, not everything is negative about India. Last monsoon I travelled to Maharashtra, Karnataka, Goa and Kerala and feel that for most parts it was indeed heaven on earth and gods own country! The sights, diversity and the food was unmatched and it was very safe (I drove..). I should admit there are some excellent roads now (the mumbai pune expressway is one road that I would rate much better than any road in north america) and in general the highways in the western part and the southern part of India were also good. I also travelled to Hyderabad by air and was pleasantly surprised at both the Mumbai as well as the Hyderabad airports. I am sure that most of the private airlines as well as the quality hotels in India are miles better than the shoddy service that you get in North America. This is a view not only shared by me but also quite a few international travellers that I know.

Again, it is easy to be an armchair critic, particularly about a place like India with all its myraid problems, without offering any sort of solutions like the dude on this website but let me add one thing that I feel everyone will agree. I feel that there are more genuine smiles on peoples faces in India then anywhere else in North America. I take the skytrain everyday in Vancouver and feel that the sad and sleepy expression on most peoples faces reflects a lot of unhappiness! Maybe not enough sunshine!
