There is a company called http://www.freephoneline.ca/
which gives free home phone service.
You need to register online, buy the VOIP Adapter and pay for the setup once and thats it. No fee after that. Includes all features + Call most of the cities in Canada for no fee.
Two of my friends have the phone for a while now and are pretty happy with it, I am planning to move to it to.
There is no much to lose since there is no contract and the VOIP adapter is yours and can be used with any other VOIP Provider.
Check it out guys - Bell and Rogers are suckers 30 bucks for a home phone.
I am using this service all most a year now..........
Nothing you have to pay, you have to give right phone no on registration time, you will get a PIN No through phone after registration on your phone to activate link.
Only you can call trought internet, but still good doesn't have to pay anything for long distance call or in Ontario, but still charge for USA.
You can avail all the facility as VOIP.

You are talking about the Internet Option through their software.
I am talking beyond that. You can buy a VOIP Adapter, they will config it for you and send it to you. You then plug it to your router and connect your normal phone. Then you can you your normal phone. Just like any other VOIP Phone. Catch is there is no monthly charge and you dont have to keep your computer on to make calls.

I ordered the VOIP Adapter for $77 including the Shipping.
Also ordered the config file for $50.
Lets see how it works. If it works I don't have to pay for anything from here on and use a regular phone.

i have been using it too...only sometimes i find no connection cause I think it looses the IP address...could be because of a reboot of my modem or router but its very imp for the VOIP adapter to have the same IP address all the time as most of us have a dynamic IP from our ISP..
Can you make international calls or use a phone card with this phone?

You can call anywhere for free in Canada. You calling card will have a local number.
For other countries you need to buy a plan like other phone companies.
