Interested to read your prespective on this .

This equation is not important for ppl like u. Only for those NRIs who contribute significantly for the prosperity of their motherland. I don't even give any importance to any one who forgot their motherland. So no argument with u.

I am sorry that I could not make u understand as I am not a good teacher.

When $1 = Rs 1, all u guys who love this country will be first ones to escape from here.

I agree with Web on this point "When $1 = Rs 1, all u guys who love this country will be first ones to escape from here"
Most of us came here for money – and easy immigration- That was the main point. Now if I get good opportunity in India I will definitely move , Other who got the good opportunities are moving every day

Finally at least one person agreed and spending time on this thread was worth.

There are other countries like Japan,Germany...and other European countries which are far better than here (FYI, Germany has the best health care in the world) but nobody like to go there as compare to NA just because of less opportunity and less strong currency. Don't u see why the American dream concept is losing its charm as it was in early 90s. Just because of less job opportunity and risky dollar. U still get fresh air and other ..... but of no use.

Maybe, money is the driving factor for few. But that does not generalize everyone. I did, or actually, I do have a great offer from India with a fancy title. I received this offer in May and is expected to be available for me until next May (people over there are still trying to convince me to accept).

Without looking at the exchange rate (which would skew the comparison), I would say, the offer from India from money view point is great. I chose to decline as my (and my family's) preference is to live here for a variety of reasons (besides $) which few of the CDs will simply deny exists here.

BTW, there are still plenty of opportunities in India.

My main point was that if u don't get significant money here u will definitely accept that offer. Your other factors will automatically fade out. People who have good financial position here will not think about accepting opportunity anywhere else unless they lose financial ground. Fresh air,.... all those things will become useless when u struggle for ur day to day living.

I want to hear from those who are in debt and still want to live here due to fresh here or other reasons and they decline the good offer got from their home country.

All this discussion is not for those who already making a good buck here.

I think it is time for me to forget nice conversation and be practical with you.

It is very clear from your last few posts that you are getting more money here than you were getting in your MOTHERLAND or hope to get it there, or else you would not have been here as you yourself say. Which clearly means that you have been overrated here. In my view, as a person who would rather like to live in Canada than in India, we would like people like you to leave this country simply because you are getting more here than your own motherland thought you were worth and therefore it is a burden to this country.

And you seem to have very little knowledge of economics it seems so do not try to tell others to learn the basics of economics. You can't make $1=Re1 without making huge changes in India, economics is only a small part of it. You have to increase productivity, you have to increase discipline, you have to reduce pollution, you have to provide basic utilities and most of all, you have to get united and stop running to other countries just because you are selfish and want dollars. Once all that is done, there is no doubt many of us would want to return to India since we will be able to get similar lifestyle that we get here.

And by the way, I do not make big bucks here - infact I make almost one third of what I used to make before I came here. However, I would be willing to move to some other place which gives me more justice to my academic qualifications and experience than Canada does - but NOT to India since I think getting lots of lots of money but living like a 5th class citizen in India where I have to bribe people to get my daily living things is not better than living in Canada as a 3rd class citizen but getting all my basic necessities.

For a person like you who cares only about money ($1=Rs40), life does not mean anything else and it is not worth arguing with you since you are not upto that intellectual level at all.

And do not be such a hypocrat and talk about motherland when you yourself left it for your own personal gain. Perhaps the biggest service most of us are doing to India by shifting to Canada/US and other countries is by being outside India and reducing the population pressure it is under.

I wish you had specified this in the very beginning - it would have avoided so many pages of unnecessary discussion. I am sure most of the people who have contributed to this thread are NOT in debt, as you seem to be meaning (unless you consider house mortgage as being in debt - because you will find very few people in this world today who do not have a mortage or monthly financing obligations).

And how would you hear from people who are in debt and not wanting to live here - because if they really do not want to , they would have already left - right?

I am sure it is not just the financial aspect that many of us moved here, it is definitely much more than that. I was never able to earn in US / Canada what I was earning in Middle east but middle east taught me the lesson

- what freedom means to some one,
- what is equal value,
- what is it like you are able to raise your voice any where ?
- what is it like getting immediate medical attention when you / your family needs.
- what is it like getting assistance from Govt when you lose your job or you need to revisit your career.
- Existence of something called Human Resource Development portfolio ( I know similar portfolio exists in many places for name sake).

I still managed to get much better offer (even from Canadian / US perspective) in middle east but I couldn't convince myself or my family to go there.

I used to make really, really good bucks here. I lost my job due to the fantastic economy we have now. I was without a job for 4 to 5 months. That's when I got this great offer from India. Now I have secured a career position that pays me much, much lower than what I used to earn. There are reasons why I took this offer. I can't discuss it in this forum. So, compared to what I have now, India offer can be considered better.

However, we made a family decision to go through this route since, again, we love what Canada has to offer.
