Who said he was suspect ? He was taken aside for questioning. What is wrong in that ? I am not sure if all US officials should know who SRK is. I am not defending them ( they might be high school grads as you say ) however I do not see any major issue here. Just blown out of proportion. Did you also read about the Bob Dylan story? No? Read it. Where is the racial profiling in that?

At Least they are paranoid. They they are protecting their own countrymen.

Read this blog. I agree with him to a large extent.

Agree with Iceberg. The story has too many missing details. SRK was not a suspect just because he was referred to secondary inspection, there are lot of people of all colors, name and ages that get referred to secondary at some point or other. And why do they care if he is SRK? He wasn't traveling under diplomatic cover to be entitled to special privileges.

On Bob Dylan, how come no one in the US is raising a stink as they did on the Professor Gates issue? Because Dylan is white and therefore ok, eh?

Anyway, I totally agree on the blog.

How many of them blinked eyes when Ex-Prez was forced to through security check in India itself while him being in the exclusion list.

I guess from now New York won't be Favourite City in SRK Camp.

The way Indian media is crying foul over this incident, it is clearly evident that it is Shahrukh's publicity machine working in full gear. Somehow, even Mike Staffod at 640 AM discussed this issue this morning (wonder how long Shahrukh's arms are!)

But really, does this issue deserves that much discussion? What makes Shahrukh impervious to US custom's scrutiny? Just because he is so called "Tom Cruise" of India does not make him above US law?

He should be treated just as any other Indian visiting US.

Opinions differ. That’s democracy. Remember Tim McVeigh, the Oklahoma City bomber? That was home grown terrorism. Did the US govt agencies start interrogating all the Americans with that last name? No, it would be nonsense. Same here. All with last name as Khan to be interrogated? Whether it’s SRK (I am no fan of his) or Dr. Kalam, it’s the stupidity and arrogance of the staff (with a high school education). “Doing their duty” is just a facade to escape the mistakes they do.

Just curious. Do the Canadian immigration officers interrogate all visiting Moslems or with last name as Khan? So far I have not seen anyone being taken aside and interrogated in Montreal, Toronto or Ottawa.
