dear all,
we landed up in canada in oct 2007 for first time.
we did our formalities like pr card, sin card and came back to india after 10 days.as we have given our friend address for delivery of our cards, after 2 months there was a letter delivered from cic office stating that because of wrong photo specifications or photo size they are not able to make our pr card and so they called us in person to their office.
in between we were in great dilemma to go or not because of the bad economy in mid of 2008.
even though we applied and got our travel document i.e expiring on 2 june 2009.
now we are planning to go by 23 may 09 .
now my worry is that i am 3 months pregnant now and i am planning to stay over there and search for jobs(presently i m having job here in india).
but ohip plan is activated only after 3 months of your stay.
i also google for some private company insurance to buy.
but they dont covered the pregnancy?
is there any other option available so that i can be secure while my waiting period for ohip card.
this is a big confusion for me as i have heard that in case you are not covered by any insurance then its really not easy to bear the huge bills.
whats the survival job market overthere now?
is there any restriction for pregnant ladies.
can i get job in daycares in toronto for time being.
i am software engineer by profesion here working on dot net technology.
i think my mail is getting very lengthy so in overall scenario what u people will suggest me to go for 10 days and come back to india with my husband or take risk if some option is available.
i have only friends ther not relatives and i am not going to live with them.
i m planning to live on my own.
kindly suggest.
regards

Hi,
I'll totally agree with Prateek, in our case my kids PR card could not come because of photo specification, we came back in 2008 to apply for the card (Travel document was issued here) and now last week again travelled to pick up the cards (second time travel document was issued). Please don't worry, I wanted to post on the board that getting TD once is a myth, you can get travel document more than once till the time you satisfy the criteria.
Once you have delivered you can apply for the PR card for your new born and when it’s ready, can come as a family to collect for all...once for all.
Hope it helps...................Take care....................Jona
We are moving to Canada next month. In the original post its mentioned that the PR card was not processed due to photo size was incorrect. Pls mention the correct size required so that we can carry them from Dubai( that's where we are at present)
Thanks in advance

I also agree with others..PR card can be issued when you arrive later on. Enjoy your time in India and then come when you are in better state. Dont count on survivial jobs..everyone thinks oh for money we can manage for a few months but it just sucks up your time and makes you less motivated to get the job you truly deserve. Very often in the survival jobs the management is work focused not people focused so you may get unreasonable demands in effort /time ..almost like each employee has a "unwritten" contract based on what they have been able to verbally negotiate with the management.

Do we have take the photos with us while landing and how many are needed?
We are also planning to land soon.
