What is best method for applying? Sending all papers and passport by post! For many people this sounds weird but it is true. For senior citizens Canadian government takes lot of care and they are not suppose to visit the embassy. They can, but it is not required and anyway not going to change their decision. So it is my humble advise to send application by post. For instance, you should provide written explanation that you are going to provide *all* expenses for their travel and stay.
Your financial status should be strong enough to validate that you can actually provide that support.

I don't understand - you have just arrived in Canada and you want to sponsor your parents right away?
In cases like these, the consulate usually sees a red flag.
I would suggest wait for some time.
But anyway - it is your situation.
If it is imperative that they visit you now, then go ahead and apply with whatever best you have got.
As for the timeline, the consulate at New Delhi returns passports the same day if applied in person.
If applied through the drop-box, then passports are returned on the next business day (except Friday).

Dear Patrick,
First of all thanks for all the questions which I have posted and found helpful reply, advice from you.
Now , I have moved permanently to Canada, it is just a month but I am also thinking of calling my parents on visitor visa.
I am still continuing with my US employer and paid on US salary. The only difference for me now and then is the work location. Previously it was Virginia , & now it is mississauga.
Please let me know if it is okay to call parents at this time. I have alraedy rented a townhouse at this time, also I have letters from my US employer stating that I will be helping my clients in Mississauga by working thru there office in Mississauga.
Kindly advice.
