I have been working in US on a TN visa for the past 4 years. My TN Visa is expiring in May. So far, I had no trouble reniewing it every year. Given the economic situation, has anybody experienced any problem / rejections for TN visa approvals recently? My company wants to reniew but I am concerned about the border authorities approving it. Any feedback, tips appreciated.

Two people I know got their TN extended for three years last month, without any hassle.

I went last month at Peace bridge border to get my TN status for three years after I got laid off on H1-B. Officer asked me why you change from H1-B to TN and asked me to show new employment letter and my degree certificate.

If your employer wants you to work for 1 year, TN status is issued for 1 year and if 3 years, TN status is issued for 3 years. Rest content of job letter is same.

FYI : - Correct word is TN Status and not TN Visa as Canadians don't require visa to enter USA.

1. Sample cover letter
2. Do we have to show Computer System Analyst or management consultant for previous years of experience on experience letters. Are experience letters from India valid?
3. Interview questions asked by immigration officer
4. Preferred place of stamping like Niagra Border, Sarnia Border or International Pearson Airport
5. Anything you would like to add, which I do not know

Experience letters is not a requirement. Your job description should match your education - that's the key. FYI: Mgmt consultant is one of the most scrutinized category for TN.
