Right now I have ATN channel . But it is not enough for me . I want to have some more hindi channels.How can we get all other hindi channels like sony,zeegold,starplus etc. Is there any one from whom I can subcribe it legally in canada.

I think there are some people having disk-net connection. I am not sure it is legal or not.

I also heard that people go to us for buying a receiver and get it programmed here.

East indian channels available in N amercia are

1. Sun TV(Tamil)
2. Zee TV
3. TV Asia
4. Sony
5. PTV (pakistani)
6. Zee gold
7. B4U

there are 2 ways you can get them.
1. Illegally. You can buy dishnet thru the local desi vendors who'll install dual dish and receiver(costs about $500 one time cost). You can get about 200 western channels+PPVs(includes cricket)+ 7 east indian channels listed above. any time your card gets zapped, you'll have to reprogram it. It may cost $20-$50 depending on the hit.

2. Semi-legally. There are some local desi vendors who will sell you the above hardware for about $500. Here the card will never get zapped. hence no headache of reprogamming. You have to pay a monthly fee of about $25. You will receive all the 7 indian channels, about 180 english channels. No PPVs. You can see the cricket matches as the vendor subscribes on your behalf.

Am I clear? does it make any sense to you guys??

As someone who did the illegally and almost got his fingers burnt, I can tell you it is NOT worth it! The guy took the receiver away and for three months I kept calling - no faydaa! Finally I called the VISA card guys and said this vendor took payment and didnt deliver goods. Since I had an RCMP complaint no, the VISA guys refunded the entire amount!

Just having some problems with the satellite... we have one set up to get the english channels...at 119 west, when we point it at 61.5 degrees south west...we pick up no signal...anyone have any ideas ?

I just miss the SONY,SET MAX, STAR and ZEE TV since I moved to Canada. I was wondering if there is any way I could get these channels. I have gone through this thread and read about the Semi-Legal satellite options. Does anybody know where to get this from?

If i could also get the Star Sports and ESPN India here it would be just great.. so anyone who has this in home,please share the information with all of us and help us in getting those precious signals to our boring Television sets.
