I put my PR file as a single Applicant on April 2007 under arrange employment section from Delhi and got PR in February 2009. I have to enter in Canada before 12th April, Now my problem is, I got married on January 2009 and forgot to change my marriage status in Permanent Residence file, so What should I do now? My lawyer asked lots of money to put my wife's file and extend my deadline? Should I put My wife's file along with my file and put a request form to extend my deadline or Should I enter first and after put my wife's file..............Please respond me asap..I m in trouble.

Inform CIC immediately about the change in your status.

You could either let them know that you would be proceeding first and then sponsoring your spouse later from Canada or incase you want her to accompany you, CIC would ask you to submit her documentation along with the requisite fee. In the latter case, there would definitely be a little delay in your departure as well but it is worth waiting and going together.

However, it is very importanmt for them to know the change in your status before you land on any Canadian border as there are many cases wherein people did not inform them about the change of marital status and now they are facing extreme hardship in sponsoring the spouse under family class.
