Hi.
I have been a regular and avid reader of your posts. They have been of great help to us. I have a concern here regarding education of my daughter. We will be moving to Toronto most probably by the sept mid. My daughter is two and a half and will be almost three by then. I have read in your posts that she might have to miss a year since she is October born. This is a caue of great concern. Secondly, We are planning to buy a house as soon as we reach there. Can somebody please advise me as to which area has the best school there and where are most Indian families sending their kids. Being an Indian parent education is our primary concern and depending on the o buy the school we will plan where to buy a house. I will be grateful for your quick and informative mail.

She don't loose any year because she is oct born. 2005 born kids start JK this year. Since your daughter is now 2.5 yrs old, she will start next year. Classes will start in first week of Sept.

I doubt you will get a perfect unbiased answer to this. If you look at cities like Scarborough, Markham, Mississauga, Toronto, Brampton .. there is not such area as "good" or no such area as "bad". Each "area" is different. ( Like dosa and paneer palak, which one is "bad" or "good"?)
If there were any "bad" neighborhoods, trust me, no one would be living there. Cities would have converted these areas in to, say, a park.
I have also tried to find answer to this "best school area" question. But I think it all depends on what you define as "best".
If you look at neighborhoods which have least %age of immigrants, well schools from those area are rated good (or even best) in language skills (say, English). Areas which have higher population of say Asians, have schools with high rating in Maths skills.
From what I am told, schools slowly realized this and with proper changes/improvement the ratings began to improve. These is a website where you can find school ratings. I don't have that handy, if found I'll update.
My advice would be live in that city/area for few months/years and try to educate yourself. Obviously, you don't want to get into a neighborhood/school just because the whole crowd is tell you that it's the best!
