I am a citizen of Canada, residing in Canada. My son, 10 years of age, a permanent resident of Canada (who's PR will expire in September, 2009) is in India for the past 3 years since the time he met with an accident there in Jan 2005. I want to apply for my childs citizenship;
- can I ( his Father ) apply for his citizenship, even though he does not meet the 1,095 days of physical stay in Canada?
- can the application for his citizenship be filed from India or shoud it be done from Canada?
- Wiil he be asked to come to Canada for verification or for porposes related to his application?
- Can his application for citizenship be rejected for the lack of the 1,095 days of physical stay in Canada?
Looking forward for your reply.
Thanks
Umesh Kumar
Minors do not need 1095 day presence or test or oath. So, yes, you can apply for him and he does not have to be in Canada for verification. Also, there is only one way to apply, in sense, you fill out the application, sign on behalf of him, submit all the required evidence documents and send it to NS for processing. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. I really appreciate it.
You may have all documents of your son but keep in mind, you need recent photo of your son. You can ask someone to take it in India. Note down the photographer's name and address. You need to write it on back of photo.
I did same and notified to CIC that my son is in India and will be here in 2 months. My son was here in two months after application but it is not necessary to be here for citizenship.
