I applied for citizenship on June 13th of 2008.


I am kind of becoming sad because it's now actually today 6 month's since they received my application and still nothing:-((

I kind of feel scared calling them to check my status, online it says In Process can you tell me how long you have waited and your citizenship journey,

I don't know if there is a problem because I am in a divorce process, I have a child who is a Canadian citizen, and I am currently not working.

I applied on June 23, 2008. My case is still showing "In Process"

I am also kind of getting frustrated as people applied after us have got the test dates, and I have to visit out of country.

Can you please keep posting so that we know the progress.

I send my application end of May. Now I have received a Test Date.

For people who applied in June, I think you still have 1-2 months to go before you will get your test date.

3rd week of January.

I think one looses atleast a week to 10 days for people who are scheduled in December - January due to the holidays.

The main reason for the delay is if you do not fullfill the requuired 3 years of stay in the last 4 years before you apply. If you application shows too many trips outside Canada then that can cause a delay but no one can deny.

The other reason for the delay is the lack of offices where the test / oath can be taken. They are extremely few offices in the GTA and the applications are too many. Also on any given date they do not invite 100's of people. They call very limited number of people and hence the wait.

The oath and the exam should be conducted in a big centre with a large goup of people like the extrance exams we have in India.
But we all know, Canadian systems cannot handle any large group of people in any of the goverment services, they are not designed that way.

So be patient.

I am devastated,

I had to apply for renewal of my permanent resident card.
I did that last week and except mu helath card I don't have any other valid document here.
I think this process is soooooo long.
My child is Canadian citizen.

I send the extra information that they requested, whuch was ( I am in the process of divorcing and I wanted my name to appear on the citizenship excluding the last name of my ex-husband.

I called them, they received the latter once I was told that my file was transferred to Scarborough, second time they told me that my file is still in Sydney, waiting to be transferred in Scarborough.

I had send an e-mail to CIC webmaster because I don't see anything appearing (changing) in my on-line status.

They said in their reply that They don;t change all the informations all the time so I may not see nothung until the end.

This is taking so long and I don't know what to do anymore :-((
