Hi,
My husband has applied for PR as primary applicant in May 08. Since I have a couple of years to receive the PR, I was thinking of doing CGA in the meantime.
I am a CA (India) and CPA (US) and currently in US on L2 visa.
Is it possible to get student visa only for the purpose of CGA as it is a distance learning program and not a full time course. If yes, which province would be the best with respect to the job prospects in future.
I went through the CGA websites but was unclear whether a student visa would be issued for such program.
Thanks a lot for responses.
Please contact (CGA) them by mail or through e-mail. I do not see a requirement that you have to reside in Canada to do the 'distant learning'. You can do it from where ever you are. Impress upon them that you will be migrating to Canada, and hence the study courses towards your future goals. If it helps you to wait till you arrive here, then, there are other areas through which you can obtain the same to enhance your knowledge base. Please see the link provided.
You have to decide upon where you both want to reside and get employed. That will be the Province to apply to get into, for the CGA course also.

Hope this helps a little.

Hi Pshhe
One needs to be a canadian resident to be eligible to pursue CGA in Ontario
There are five levels.
Indian CA gets admission to Level 4 as first 3 levels are exempted.
However if one is CPA even level 4 is also exempted and will need to do go only final level.
Cheers!
