Hi,
Here is a link to a CMHC article. So, please be guided by it. The decision ultimately is yours. Even after you get it done, there is no proof that anything was accomplished, except that it gives you a peace of mind.

The basic cost is dependent on the size of the house. Runs anywhere from $150- $200 plus tax.

First clean the house throughly all by yourself. Starting with the carpets, walls windows, sills etc., You name it and you have to check and clean it. Not just the DUCT. Because the dust in the duct came from some where else!! Remove and clean all of the registers. There are sponge type filters are available to place inside of these registers. They are the size of 4x10 approx. They cost a buck for 10 , Look for 'Vent Mate'. Before you place them, clean the surrounding duct and the area, with a wet cloth. If you can clean the inside of the duct area where you have the register, it will be even better. Get as far as you can reach. Don't get caught with your hand deep inside the duct. That will cost you more. Dust all of the furniture and anything that will attract dust due to static. You got your problem pretty near beat. See if you can tackle the return air register also. Please do not place a filter there. That is a huge one. Some times placed high up close to the ceiling. That is for hot air recirculation.

Next year go for the 25 essential things that you might want to learn and become a Canadian before getting the citizenship. Currently most of us are "ArdhaNaris". Here is how you save on your expenses, by doing half the jobs all by your self. Now you can have the party that you wanted to have all the time. You have to acquire all of these skills. (Who the hell says so?)

Best of luck. Have a night or two out. Toast one for Freddie.

Freddie.

Greetings DesiGuy1981

FYI: One of my friends in Montreal who got the duct cleaning done by (don't want to state the company name per se) but it rhymes with "C Ears" . The people (/ contractors) that the company sent cleaned the duct and ended up "cleaning off" a gold bracelet from the room too. The follow-ups and complaints didnt help him.

So whomever you choose please be around the area when they are at work

Thanks
b
