I just ordered 2 of these and installed one locally while will be sending other back home. It self installs and if an update is required, it will guide you to it. I had the phone working in just 2 minutes and works wonderfully well. Currently, the limitation is that no canadian area code is available, hence I used NY area code. So I can make unlimited calls to anyone in North America, others cannot call me on the chosen number unless they choose to dial long distance. I spoke to thier customer service and they said Canadian Area codes are in work and may be added in just about 2 weeks. I will update you on it. The other limitation is that since it uses USB port of your computer, you will have to leave it on all time if you want to use it as main line.

I have also used the line to send fax and it works! You get call display, voicemail and other features on it except 911 for Canada is not available. With $40 for the 1st year, you can;t go wrong!

i did not know that this had been discussed before. I just read about it a few days ago online on GlobeAndMail and oredered it immediately. I thought I would be the 1st one here...but you shattered my pride ( ).


I had ordered it from US site and paid about 4 bucks for 1st calls mail for both of them together. The price is same there and there was not GST/PST either (though the stuff was mailed out of Hamilton...and there were no brokerage charges)

Hope they add Canadian area codes soon!

This needs a phone line . I use vonage and that does not use a phone line and it is 24.99 a month.

The US site offers 30-day trial only to US customers and even though I bought from that site, it did flash that I won't receive 30 day trial.

And I believe that I am entitled to one free phone number change irrespective of where I bought it since my account did say that I have one change free.

Hello All,


So my existing tel connection, though is a VOIP, remains as it is. Nothing changes on that end? I would get an additional number which I can use when my PC is switched on. Is that correct?
