hello cd members

had gone to sears (scarborough town centre) and put forth a request

to provide me with the sears card , they told me they have two cards

one is a sears card that can be used only in sears stores , and another

is the sears mastercard that can be used in sears as well as elsewhere

i specifically told them i am interested in the one that has the sears

connect plan as i was not interested in credit card but the long distance

plan and they told me that the sears connect long distance is available

for both and the lady on the counter was just in a hurry to fill up the form

i told her to make sure and she called one of her manager and they told

me it is available on master card too , i checked online and found out

the case was not so and it was available only on sears card and went

to them and explained the dilemma , they were ready to offer me sears card

and cancel mastercard but they required a credit check again i refused to do so

as it is the mistake of the management , a senior manager came and apologized

and made me wait for half an hour and explained they could do nothing and

gave me presidential number to complain , my main concern is that

why give false information and why not verify in advance what is being offered to the client

i want to take this seriously and do something like put in papers where innocent

people should not be duped ,any suggestions?

SearsConnect is a service offered by SEARS. The Sears Card or the Sears MCard are also services offered by Sears in conjunction with J P Morgan Chase. And I think the problem is that the management or the counter person failed to explain that SearsConnect can be bought using any form of payment. So it is not necessary to use either of those cards. You can use a BMO MCard if you wish to have SearsConnect.

Between the Sears Card and the Sears MCard, I would go for the Sears MCard. And yes you can have SearsConnect using the new Sears MCard.

You also want to make sure that your telephone company has an association with Sears Connect. I had a bitter experience about this. We have Rogers, and we didn't know that Rogers does not associate with Sears Connect, Bell does.

I went ahead with this pain of getting Sears credit card and everything. Called Rogers to plug in Sears Connect for me. Waited for weeks for them to get back to me with the connection. Did not get any response. Called Rogers again, only to be informed that "We are sorry, we do not have this contract with Sears Connect". That was very frustrating. I am not sure what the situation is now though.

I also have rogers home phone...(Calgary) and i'm also using sears connect...

To the OP, if u were not interested in credit card, then why did u allow them to proceed with master card application??

This could be the case only with Roger VOIP or cable phone... not the regular phone. The regular phone is still operated by Bell, billed by Rogers. I hv rogers regular phone n searconnect for long distance.

i was informed the only way i could get sears connect is thru the card

but the lady was confident it was available on both cards but the fact is that

it is available only on sears card ,this this information was misguided.

let me repeat sears connect is only for sears card members and not sears

mastercard members , i have my facts right here.

Only thing I can say is my experience has been that we CAN NOT RELY on customer service reps. They do not have enough knowlede and they do not care to get right info and we can not complain about every transaction we do in a day ......

Best is we keep extreme caution in whatever we do....
in this case, you could have checked on-line before hand....

You can go ahead and put all your enregy in complaining etc ....MIGHT get you gift cert of few dollars....is the effort worth it ? Decision is yours.....

I know it makes one angry...but I have learnt....it is not worth it and this carelessness is present all around us everywhere .....
