Hi, I am an International Student from India and have been studying in Canada for almost an year now. I am planning to get married and have myself sponsored myself on marriage basis since I heard that you get your PR in 6 weeks if sponsored by a Canadian citizen or PR. Would appreciate if someone could let me know the pros and cons of the situation before i take any step to get the immigration. Please Advise.Thanks
pro is you could get Canadian PR, con is you are getting married for it 
But, on a serious note - if getting married, spousal sponsership would be the quickest for obtaining PR.

If your spouse sponsors you while you remain in Canada. the process will take upto 7-8 months. Refer to this link for details

Wait a sec - in case you are not aware this is exactly what they wish to avoid - they can deny a spouse sponsorship if they believe that it has been done with the intent of immigration .
