For the first time in many many many years did I even consider a liberal vote. Lately the enviroment has been on my mind and I thought Dion was the man.
But I could sacrifice the enviroment for patriotism. Dion just lost my vote. I can't stand "civilian" dual citizens, how can I accept a PM who is a dual citizen! My gosh, the liberals should not pressure him. They should just KICK HIM OUT!

Maybe Dion and liberals should do 2 things
1) Give up his citizenship
2) Pass an act prohibiting dual citizens(In the case of desis-OCI card holders), from voting until they give up their dual citizenship.
Solves both issues.

Point 2) is not acceptable as an OCI we still need to travel on a Canadian passport as we do not have an Indian passport or the voting rights in India. Hence your loyalties on paper are with Canada. There is a movement growing in USA with NRI to obtain voting rights for foreign Passport holders and GC holders. If that comes through then your assertion is right.

Well, get a POI instead .
After all 'Person of Indian origin' is not as loaded as 'Overseas CITIZEN of INDIA'. If the loyalty was not important then why not settle for POI instead of OCI?
How can an overseas CITIZEN of another country decide on who the leader of MY country should be? Even if its different 'on paper'. Dions track record is definitely says more than an 'on paper' technicality...yet we dismiss it.
Since we are questioning loyalties...lets make the boundaries crystal clear.

shankaracharya is right. No Indian passports for OCIs.
Also OCI holders cannot contest elections (and no voting rights) and cannot buy agricultural land in India. So our rules are straight and differs from Canada.
BTW, there is hardly any difference between OCI and PIO.

Arent their loyalties in question? Are they loyal to India or Canada? People who can vote for Canadas leaders SHOULD be unambiguosly(symbolically, technically and emotionally) Canadian. Sound familiar DIO?

Not necessary. And no need. After all they are voters not PM or candidates running for the office who will make policies for the country. And OCIs cant vote in Indian elections whereas Mr. Dion can vote in French elections. We are talking abt leaders, not mere voters.
