Is your Boss a Desi or atleast from the background?

If a majority of ones experiences have been to work under desi bosses...chances are that a good number of them have been bad. Same if a majority of ones experience has been Italian or Jewish bosses.

Extremely good bosses are a rarity in any part of the world. Just as in employees, the good ones are rarer than the average/bad ones.

- No Desi boss in Canada so far.

My other bosses in India were good too ... its just that this one.

But it is lot to do on Company Culture, when it comes to Management Style.

One remembers an insult more than kindness :p . I've worked under those bosses too.

If I can sum up for the sake of perspective...according to your experience Maharaj, desis are good bosses(inspite of the one bad boss).

Ofcourse, I dont agree with that statement due to the fact that I'm against generalizations. However, it does bear relevance to how ones perception can shape ones 'reality' or as our friends like to claim....'THE TRUTH'. :p

Desis are Good Bosses too. Why not? Everything boil downs to Organization that you are working for.

One of My Bosses used to tell me ... "I Know What You Are Doing, I had been on Your Chair" . He is the Best one that I have got so far. Still in contact after more than 8 years :).

A guy phones up his Boss, but gets the bosses' wife instead:
"I'm afraid he died last week." she explains.
The next day the man calls again and asks for the boss.
"I told you" the wife replies, "he died last week."
The next day he calls again and once more asks to speak to his
boss. By this time the wife is getting upset and shouts:
"I'VE AL
READY TOLD YOU TWICE, MY HUSBAND, YOUR BOSS, DIED LAST WEEK! WHY DO YOU KEEP CALLING?"

"Coz . . ." he replied laughing, "I just love hearing it. . . ."

Two points should count here.

1. Sampling (what majority of the experience say)

2. Being partial (I think this is critical and again very prevalent).

This is again not about how humane your boss is, it is about how professional your boss is.

I see two factors that really influence the management style, you're open to dissent.

1. Social / academic environment. Needless to say how many of us read maslow's theory and other organizational behavioural subject seriously during their academics, atleast not me because I didn't know the value by then.

2. An encouraging environment that motivates such styles (the degree really matters here in place of existence).

Considering your above 2 points which of the below statements is more true according to you.

A desi who is schooled/experienced in a NA management style is as good or bad as his peers here?

OR

Desis are bad managers.
