hi,i will be moving soon to vancouver this fall aug 24th on student visa to pursue my MASc in UBC. I have letter of funding stating that I will be Research assistant under a prof and he will be paying me so and so from sep 2006 to august 2008.
So can i consider this as work experience? So when can i apply for my PR ? or do I try getting into a phd program after my master's and then apply with RA funding letter?
one more thing my passport expires in 2009...can i renew it from canada indian high commision or do i have to come back to india???

thank u sir! i have read yr other posts too..i appreciate yr gesture! i have another query...
as my visa stamp says visa valid till 30 sep 2008 ...when do u think i can apply for my PR? can i do it by sep 2007 as i will be having one year work ex as research assistant...
secondly ..can i also show RA for Ph.D as a job to get points for the employment ?

Yes you can..you will have to deftly write your work experience.. Read the link that I posted above for more information.

I did my bachelor's from Anna University (2006 passout)in Electronics and communication engineering with aggregate of 79.82%. I 'am also part of Waran Research Foundation (www.warftindia.org) where i carried a bit of research in CAD VLSI and have two IEEE publication to my name as co-author. My gre is 1330 and toefl 260.
I got some admits in US with aid but opted for UBC for its reputation. I just hope that things go rite and I dont repent my decision.
