Some movies you should watch

"Pinjar" - A story during the partition. Manoj Bajpai is as usual amazing, Urmila is bearable. Direction is awesome.

"Main Madhuri Dixit Bana Jahti Hoon" - Very funny. Both lead actor and actress are amazing. Directed by Ram Gopal Verma

"Mr and Mrs Iyer" - I don't know if this is a new movie. Indian-English movie. Its not great, but worth a watch.

Haven't seen any of the ones you mention, will have to check them out.

Was forced to see "Kal ho na ho" the other day. My God!!! What a spectacular bore. And to think that a lot of people actually liked it! Give me a break!! This Shah ra ra ra ra ra rukh khan has to be the most annoying "actor" in history. A stationary peanut would be more fun to watch.

Imaginary dialogue between the director and the producer before making crap like Kal ho na ho

Producer (P) : "Yaar, ek sooper-dooper hit banani hai"
Director (D) : "Ban gayi samjho, producer sahab!"
P : "Lekin yaar, coshept original hona chahiye"
D : "Arey hai na boss! Is baar mein ek ekdum orignal philam banaunga!"
P : "Woh kaise?"
D : "Ek minute, darvaja bandh kar leta hoon! Koi mera idea sun na le!"
P : "Wokay"
D : "Mereko bahu sahi idea aaya hai. Is baar hum movie Europe nahi, New York mein shoot karenge!"
P : "Wah!!! Tum to ekdum genius!! "
D : "Arey aur suno! Aapne dekha hoga ke bahot sari sooper-hit philam Gujarati ya Punjabi community pe bani hai. Right?"
P : "Ekdum right."
D : "Lekin hum is baar ek FOOL-PROOF sooper-hit banayenge! Is philam mein dono community ko dikhayenge! PHIR TO KUCH BHI KACHRA SOOPER-HIT HO JAYEGA!!!!"
P (salivating) : "Yaar tu to Einstein hai yaar!!!! Lekin story kya hai??"
D : "Boss, yehi to mera genius hai!! Story ki koi zaroorat hi nahi. Thode stereotypical Gujju aur punju jokes dalo, Bade (aur bakvas) actor le aao, kuch angrezi gane copy maro aur Phoren country dikhao! Apne desi logo ko aisaich kachra mangta hai (and he's right!)"
D : "WAH! Jiyo mere lal! Is desh to tumhare jaise logon ki hi zaroorat hai!"




On a sidenote, I should mention the only thing I liked about the movie. And that was Saif Ali Khan's acting. This guy's highly under-rated and I hope he does not get stereotyped into these kind of roles just because he did such a great job here. But then, that would be expecting too much from desi filmmakers and viewers.

Phew!! Sorry, I just had to vent.

haha! That was funny .. and so true. I totally agree, though I believe Sharukh is a talented actor (watch his old stuff), he is a very annoying and repetitive actor. He does the same role in the same kind of mushy pastel (the colors the movies use) movies.

I hope he would stop concentrating on making money by doing the same thing again and again and become more creative like Amir Khan (can't wait for Mangal Pande)

btw I am one of the few wise people who have still not seen Kal ho na ho, but maybe I will end up watching it .

From your post I get the feeling you will like the movies I posted above.

I never thought of him as a great actor, but I agree, some of his older stuff was tolerable and some even likeable. But if versatility is a virtue, this guy must be the devil. His non-stop twiching makes me wonder if someone's poking him from behind as he delivers his dialogue.

And what about these Yash whatevers? I'mean what do these guys take us for, dishing the same feel-good crap over and over and over again? I'm sick of every Indian protagonist being potrayed as an all-capable, all sacrificing made-for-the-NRI mahatma in every movie. How about some real people, some real humor and some real stories? But anyways, so long as they make money, they're going to milk this one dry.

Hats off to Amir Khan though, he has been terrific lately. Can't wait to see "Mangal Pandey".

I have seen few of Shahrukh just because Aishwarya was in it. Luckily this time it is not Aishwarya.
