If you have been observing the Indian examination results right from CBSE, local boards, IAS, 10th grade, 12th grade and many other examinations there is a trend being observed.

In every examination Girls are beating the Boys hollow !. If you see the CBSE exam the girls pass percentage is atleast 6% higher than the boys, and the top ranks have all gone to girls.

This trend is quite impressive and hope it lives out to the adage \"If you educate a girl, you educate the family\".

I do hope that guys will not protest and ask for reservation in education and jobs in the near future. Hope in the next 25 years girls will start demanding/getting dowry from men !.

Speech by Thomas Friedman of The New York Times....

"When we were young kids growing up in America, we were told to eat our
vegetables at dinner and not leave them. Mothers said, 'think of the
starving children in India and finish the dinner.' And now I tell my
children: 'Finish your maths homework. Think of the children in India
who would make you starve, if you don't.'"

At least I am happy about this, as we DO NOT have to create a "Quota" for them, This is a good sign.

meaning atleast we have no reservations for them yet.... people who depend on the Quota /reservation system must learn from these girls, how to study, do hard work, excel and move forward, rather than just waiting to be lifted in a society.

Sorry to burst the bubble (no pun intended :D)

but women do infact have a quota (called Women's quota) in Andhra Pradesh..
So think of this, we had women who got ranks as low as 40000 and were admitted cos they were
1.) Women
2.) SC/ST !

But this achievement in CBSE is indeed laudable

Ever wondered why Girls do better than Boys in exams of 10th and 12 th grade? The truth is actually this :
India has more men than women . I think it is around 927:1000. Many girls are not provided with education when compared to boys. The ratio of girls being educated is lower than the ratio of boys being educated.
for eg. if 10 girls atteneded 10th, 12 th. exam, there would have been 25 males for the same exam. So percentages are crooked way of expressing that the girls did better. if they say 66 % of the girls passed it is 6 or 7 girls, while for boys if 55% passed it is still 13 or 14 boys.
If the Top marks went to girls, that is b'cos girls have less vices/ outlet for vices when compared to boys (atleast in TN).
TK
Sidenote -In 1989-94 batch of REC in a particular city of Tamil Nadu. this was the ratio of male to female in the class.
Architecture : 20 Males 10 Girls
Comp. Sci. : 40 :1
Mechanical : 40:0
Civil : 33:7
Metallurgy : 38:2
Electrical :34 :6
ECE :36:4
Just FYI
