KOLKATA: The UPA government will go ahead with reservation of jobs for backward classes in the private sector and a bill in this regard will be introduced soon, Union minister for social justice Meira Kumar said.

The Group of Ministers, formed to look into the reservation of jobs in the private sector, has already prepared a report and the government is exploring the possibility of introducing a bill in this regard, she said yesterday.

She said the recommendations by the Group of Ministers have been prepared in consultation with FICCI, CII, ASSOCHAM and leading private corporate bodies.

The minister said entrepreneurs like K Narayana Murthy of Infosys and Kumaramangalam Birla of Aditya Birla Group were in support of reservation of jobs in the private sector.

Sounds uncomfortable to me.
But then I expect this will lead to higher competition amongst "non-reserved" job-applicants. And hopefully might lead to higher productivity!

Or, the non-reserved group may immigrate to other countries like Australia, New Zealand, Canada, UK, USA etc.
