And pakistan was a part of India and so was bangladesh and some parts of Afghanisthan...

and all those devout muslims now living in pakistans are the same IE aryans who were raided and converted by the Muslim horde from Central Asia.....and guess what religion the IE aryans followed

Typical reactions from people. My post was about how government, citizens and human rights have forgotten about Kashmiri Pandits. It's no surprise that some memebers believe that "hardly" 8300 odd hindus have been killed in kashmir. Fact is

I guess people here will argue that all these people dropped off the face of the earth because after all only minorities of a particular kind are harassed. Sadly the point I was trying to raise has been drowned in the usual rhetoric of "Only muslims are being targetted" and " I am muslim, I am a victim" attitude.

On January 4, 1990, just fifteen years ago, Aftab, an Urdu paper published from Srinagar published a press release issued by Hizb-ul- Mujahideen, a subsidiary of the Jamaat-e- Islami, demanding that all Hindus pack up and leave.

The expulsion order for that is what the press release amounted to was also printed by another local paper Al Safa. According to Kanchan Gupta (Rediff on Net, January 19, 2005) in the days following, there was near chaos in the Kashmir Valley with Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah and his National Conference Government abdicating all responsibilities of the State and masked men running amok, brandishing Kalashnikovs, shooting to kill and shouting anti-India slogans.

Soon after came reports of killing of Hindus and inflammatory speeches being made from the pulpits of masjids attacking Hindus. Walls came to be plastered with posters and handbills, summarily ordering all Kashmiris to strictly follow the Islamic dress code, prohibiting the sale and consumption of alcoholic drinks and imposing a ban on video parlours and cinemas. People were told to re-set their watches and clocks to Pakistan Standard Time.

Shops, business establishments and homes of Kashmiri Pandits, the original inhabitants of the Kashmir Valley with a recorded cultural and civilizational history of over 5,000 years were marked out. Notices came to be seen on the doors of Pandit homes peremptorily asking the occupants to leave Kashmir within 24 hours or face death or worse. Some warnings, according to Kanchan Gupta were more lucid.

They said: "Be one with us, run or die!" Taped slogans were repeatedly played from masjids which said: "Kashmir mei agar rehna hai, Allah-o-Akbar Kehna hai" (If you want to stay is Kashmir, you have to say Allah-o-Akbar). Or: "Yahankya chalega, Nizam-e-Mustafa" (What do we want here? Rule of Sharia). Or "Asi gachchi Pakistan, batao roas te batanev san" (We want Pakistan along with Hindu women, but without their men). In the months preceding January 1990 more than 300 Hindu men and women, nearly all of them Kashmiri Pandits had been slaughtered, starting with the brutal murder of Pandit Tika Lal Taploo, a well-known lawyer, on September 14, 1989.

Soon after his killing, Justice N K. Ganju, of the Srinagar High Court was shot dead. Then Pandit Sarwanand Premi, 80-year old poet and his son were kidnapped, tortured, their eyes gouged out and hanged. A Kashmiri Pandit nurse working at the Soura Medical College Hospital in Srinagar was gang-raped and then beaten to death. Tens of thousands of Kashmiri Pandits across the Valley were compelled to flee their homes to safeguard their lives and honour.

Again according to Kanchan Gupta, as many as 300,000 Kashmiri Pandits were forced to flee; about two-thirds of them are camping in Jammu. A once proud and prosperous community has been forced to live in grovelling poverty. It is India’s ignored community, a blot on the Congress Government.

The grim tragedy is compounded by the equally grim irony that one of the most intelligent, subtle, versatile and proud communities of the country is being virtually reduced to extinction in free India. It is suffering not under the fanatical zeal of medieval Sultans like Sikandar or under the tyrannical regime of the Afghan Governors, but under the supposedly secular rule of Rajiv Gandhi, V. P. Singh and the like whose unabashed search for personal and political power is symbolised by the callous and calculated disregard of the Kashmiri migrants’ current miserable plight and the terrible future that stares them in the face.....

In a soft, superficial permissive and, in many ways cruel, India which has the tragic distinction of creating over one lakh refugees from its own flesh and blood and then casting them aside like masterless cattle to fend for themselves on the busy and heartless avenues of soulless cities, the chances for Kashmiri Pandits to survive as a distinct community are next to nothing".

the plain truth is that today there are no Kashmiri Pandits living in Srinagar or, for that matter, anywhere else in the Kashmir Valley. This, in any language, would be called ethnic cleansing and genocide, but these words are only reserved for Narendra Modi and Gujarat. Muslims, incidentally, have not been driven out of Gujarat. They are living there in lakhs and carrying on their trades and services as before. And they are protected.

The Kashmiri Pandits do not enjoy that privilege. But who will tell that to Sonia Gandhi and our `intellectuals’? The usual argument is that the Kashmiri Pandits were not "driven out" of the Valley, but left on their own, all to live in utter misery. Such is the two-facedness of our liberal intellectuals and National Human Rights Commission-wallahs. They neither have any sense of shame, nor any self-respect. in India especially in Jammu and Kashmir, a part of India’s cultural heritage has been destroyed; a chapter of India’s civilisational history has been erased.

But tell that to Dr Manmohan Singh. Tell that to Sonia Gandhi. And you will see a big yawn

does the Centre have no responsibility in such matters? Besides, why, one might ask, is our liberal press not taking up the issue? Does our so-called liberal press wish to see the Kashmiri Pandit community decimated to please the jehadis and to assert their secular values? Are the Kashmiri Pandits to be made scapegoats for India’s secular arrogance? The National Human Rights Commission of India consists of a bunch of jokers who have no sense of humanity and who have no courage to speak up.

The United States could not care less for the sufferings of Kashmiri Pandits. Why should it, when the Government of India itself does not care? It is nicer and easier for the Prime Minister and the Congress president to be seen waving the flag to see first diplomacy bus start off from Sinagar to Mazzafarabad. It costs them nothing. And it gets them some free publicity. They obviously don’t want to have the fate of the Kashmiri Pandits weigh on their conscience.

According to sources a large number of Kashmiri Pandits living in refugee camps they are refugees in their own country, thanks to Congress governments are suffering from a variety of stress and depressionrelated diseases. A group of doctors who surveyed the mental and physical health of the Kashmiri Pandits living in refugee caps have found high incidence of "economic distress, stress-induced diabetes, partial lunacy, hypertension and mental retardation".

Statistics showed a high death rate and a low birth rate among the Kashmiri refugees. Nothing of that bothers our secular press. After all, the Kashmiri Pandits are Hindus, aren’t they? To our secular media, Hindus are expendable. It is this duplicity, this lop-sided secularism that needs to be strongly condemned. But importantly, immediate steps must be taken to see that all - meaning everyone who was driven out without exception - Kashmiri Pandits must be seen to have returned to their old homes and provided security.

That would be the best confidencebuilding measure that one can think of. If Congress will not take up this project immediately and sincerely, then it should be the BJP and NDA’s task to see that it is fully implemented. What are they waiting for? After all, the Kashmiri Pandits are Hindus, aren’t they? To our secular media, Hindus are expendable. It is this duplicity, this lop-sided secularism that needs to be strongly condemned.

Muslims cant because if they say yes pakistan no longer need be a seperate country...the very ideology of pakisthan is burnt

Christians cant as most of them are converted christians and that would mean....

I am not biased or prejudiced....

But why would a god wanna appear and guide a particular set of people to (kill.convert infidels) or (spread the civilization like th british *** tried to do)...what is he ? a racist? if there is such a god would i worship him??? will he even fit the definition of a god then???
