My question to board members/experts do you really noticed anything major with Sade Sati?

A Proud Indian Canadian
I would say first few yrs was tough. But it was expected. I was a new immigrant trying to establish in the country. Sometimes, took little abuses initially. However, I did have my professional highs and lows in this period.
I too have Sada Saati of Shani.
I don't know whether it is due to it or not, last few years have been pretty tough. Even before coming to Canada. However, not all have negative effect it seems. Some years are good too as per a couple of astrologers I know.
Rgds.

Let's make India a better place !
I guess it's true that a person going thru Shani phase either benifits from his good deeds or pay a price for his bad deeds. Is there anything a person can do to avoid or to make things better during that period?
Thanks in advance
Well guys I am not some expert on Shani ji maharaj but the Saade Saate is a period in which Saturn is transiting from the 12th, 1st and 2nd house from moon rasi. Also a period of 2.5 years when it is 4th from moon is not a nice period and is called Dhaiyya.
It depends from horo to horo what Saturn is going to provide u with. It depends on ur deeds and also the kind of rasi it is in or transiting. So it is not something which is always malefic. Some people who have a benefic Shani get a lot of boom in their lives when the Saade Sati sets in and also as stated earlier ur deeds also have to be good. Why blame the Shani then?
Remedies:
1 Someone who is under the influence of Saade Saati - good or bad- should give up liquor altogether.
2.Try to pacify Shani by keeping fast on Saturdays (at least 18 saturdays) and do one Shani Chalisa
3 Go to Shiv temple on Mondays or keep fasts on Mondays and do 108 times the jap of "Om Namah Shivaya"
4. The best remedy is to offer sweets to Hanuman ji on tuesdays and do one Hanuman Chalisa in the temple.
Hope these remedies help u get some relief from the Saade Saati

P.S. When you ask a question, please send along your Date, Time and Place of Birth.
Appreciate your reply.
One of the Priest told me to do 18000 Japa Pooja. Tuli maybe you can tell me, is it necessary for my wife to be present at the time or not? It's really for her. He also said to do it in my house if possible?
He's someone I met in States, I have no way of getting in touch with him, so thought to ask you.
Any insights about 18000 Japa pooja would be nice.
Thanks
I can suggest an easier alternative. Every Saturday please visit your local south Indian temple where there is a NavGrah. For Example: You can find a Durga Devi Temple in Drew Road. This road comes on your right when you travel North on Dixie and after you cross Derry.
You could light an oil lamp every Saturday and make 9 circles around the Nav Grah. You could also pay around $2 and get the south Indian pundit to do a small pooja for you with Sani Deity of the Nav Grah.
Luckily this Saturday(25th February 2006) is Mahasivhrathi, and the temple will be open all night. There would be south Indian style poojas every hour.
Not all Sani Disha is bad. There is a Sani disha were in does great stuff to the person(it is called Poongu Sani in tamil). If I'm right(I stand to be corrected) sani disha comes thrice in normal persons life time. The first 7.5 years during child hood, the second 7.5 in middle age and the last 7.5 during old age. You cannot avoid it. You get what you are destined to get. You could reduce the severness of the disha by prayers and moral behaviour.

Speech by Thomas Friedman of The New York Times....
"When we were young kids growing up in America, we were told to eat our
vegetables at dinner and not leave them. Mothers said, 'think of the
starving children in India and finish the dinner.' And now I tell my
children: 'Finish your maths homework. Think of the children in India
who would make you starve, if you don't.'"
