PLEASE DO CONSULT A PERSON WHO HAS LOTS OF EXPERIENCE IN THIS FIELD.

As for late filing penalities.

++++++++
Tax return filing due dates in 2006
Generally, your tax return for 2005 has to be filed on or before April 30, 2006.

Self-employed persons
If you or your spouse or common-law partner carried on a business in 2005 (other than a business whose expenditures are primarily in connection with a tax shelter), your 2005 tax return has to be filed by June 15, 2006. However, if you have a balance owing for 2005, you still have to pay it by April 30, 2006.

cheers.

If I may ask, what are you objecting to, that Smiley said, which has offended you. This is what Smiley said ....

If someone has been working in US /India during this time, when they ask for their Passport details , the visas will show and they will know he/she worked outside .

So it is okay for someone who has actually not worked in canada and also have no visas H1b - L1b etc to back it up

Dear Ashish30,

Simple answer to your question is that income is not a criteria for citizenship.

To give a ridiculous example:
Say a person lands in Canada as a permanent resident.
Next day he goes to sleep in his home in Canada and wakes up after 3 years. He can apply for Citizenship and he will get it if he satisfies conditions listed above by morning rain, viz:

<<<<<To become a Canadian citizen you must:
1. Be 18 years of age or older;
2. Be a permanent resident of Canada;
3. Have lived in Canada for at least three of the four years before applying;
4. Be able to communicate in either English or French;
5. Know about Canada;
6. Know about the rights and responsibilities of citizenship;>>>>

Normally it is not a "chancy" thing. You are surely going to get it, if everything above is in order.

:)
