I had posted ny resume on Workopolis site. In a span of 2 weeks, I got 3 responses from recruiters, but since I am not currently in Canada, there was no further progress.

Just want to know if the reponses I got implies a good sign of job availability for my skill sets (Oracle Applications)

As we all know that weaker response from employers/recruiters is highly disappointing. Before questioning your skill set or current demand for your skills, you need to consider how employers look for candidates.

Job Search – Done by employees
As a job seeker, a person would search on skill set and location job is located. We don’t really need any other criteria. If you need more search features, a person can go in advanced search to select one or more keywords filtering.

Now looking at the other side:

Employee Search – Done by employers/recruiters
When employers are searching for candidates, they have a lot more searching options available to them. Employers can search on following things.

Skill Set – of course. Remember when you created a online resume in 50 different text boxes on monster.ca or workopolis.ca. What ever keywords you specify in that text will be searched.

Current Location – They will get this information from your address.

Postal Code - They will get this information from your address.

Phone Area Code – They will get this from your contact phone no. So if you are in 416 area code you will be filter out from employee search with 905 area code. So it is always advisable to get both area code phone no. on resume. Well you would ask if you are in 416 how can you get 905 code phone no. Well you have to be resourceful and find a honest friend who is in 905 area code and willing to allow you to put his phone no on your resume. Most importantly, will let you know if any employer tries to contact you. You can always call employer back and change the phone in their personal file rather than changing on job search site.

From above, you must know that Phone Area code, Current Location is as important as Skill set.

Somehow “Being in Right Place (Location, Phone Area Code), at the Right Time (When a company looking for you)” fits this scenario.
