Live and Let Live
Cd's,
Yesterday I had the privilage of going to The Host-Mississauga for a birthday party Lunch Buffet. I have heard of fabulous reviews on Cd about the place but it was not up to the expectation. The Ambience was not that great. Novelty restaurant and your clay oven have better ambience than the Host @ Miss.. The table cloths and carpet was very old too. The only interior decorative item was umteen bangles hung on the perimeter through curtain rods. Food was not that great ad the choices were very limited. They had 3 NV and 3 Veg. items. For salad they just had one fruit bowl (with 3 common fruits-orange, watermelon and cantelope), Rice pudding and fruit custard. No Gulab Jamoons, ladoo's basanthi etc...
Taste was very very simple. Infact taste at The Host-Miss. was below Novelty restaurant and My Clay oven.
There was a long line up of people waiting at 1:00 pm on sunday to get seated inside.
Tips are included in the bill + the bill will have further tips. Our host did not pay the extra tip and the waiter accepted it. Also they are a bit lenient with allowing children (under 2 year old) to eat for free. When my host told that he will not count children the waiter agreed and brought the bill without the children's count.
My recommendation is to avoid this restaurant unless called for free.

Sidenote : I was sharing this information with a Desi female in my office and she told me that she had eaten in The Host-Richmond Hill and Toronto (for Free as a guest in some party) and that both the food and the ambience was great. Donot know if i could belive her and she maynot have had a chance to visit other good Desi restaurants in the GTA.

I am a Gents and not a Ladies.
Though I am in Halifax now , I had visited 2 good Indian restaurants while I was @ Toronto till mid October . Not speaking of the ambience but restricting myself only to the taste of food I liked it @ Moti Mahal @ Gerrard Street and there s was this restaurant 'Prestige' or something in Scarborough which also calls itself the 'Samosa King' -- they had a huge queue and my companion reasoned that it was due to their prices .
I enjoyed the buffet at the one @ Scarborough and combo meal @ Moti Mahal. Not bad I would say .

Reviving an old thread , I just wish to recommend a good restaurant that we visited lately - Its 'Sanjhi Rasoi ' on Torbram and Steeles , Brampton adjacent to Royal Furniture .
I liked their food and felt like sharing this .

I went there after seeing an ad and coupon in the same day's local ethnic paper. The restaurant refused to honour the coupon and the price in the ad saying that the price had gone up since the ad was sentto the newpaper. Food was overly spicy and oily. Never go there again.
