My suggestion : If you going to settle in Canada as PR then buy NTSC electronic appliances.

If not you have to buy Multi-System VCR or TV to view your videos from your PAL Camcorder.

Hello Anjana,

What our friend Tammudu has replied is correct. If you have to buy, buy only an NTSC camcorder, and that too buy in Canada because:

1. Not many models would be available in Dubai or Abu Dhabi for NTSC because the main market is for PAL.

2. Since everything in Canada is only NTSC (and one has to specially go for Multi systems), they not only have dozens of models, but they are much cheaper here

However, there might be compelling reasons to have a multi system TV - I personally have a lot of family videos - marriage, children, holidays etc.etc. which are all in PAL. My cost of converting those videos to NTSC would be much higher than buying a multi system TV. If that be the case with you too, better buy multi system TV (unless you already have one - which most probably you should have!!) in your place since they are quite expensive here.

If you have electronics that you would like to carry with you - don't hesitate. Most of the systems that you buy in Asia run both on 220 and 110 volts (all mine do!) with a simple switch built in. Even the camcorder battery charger / ac converter will run on 110 volts.

And once again Anjana, while you are asking a lot of relevant questions - If I were you, I would organise my thoughts and put in one longer posting asking various questions at the same time since many of the things are related and linked as well as it gives a good perspective of my lifestyle and expectations - thereby giving a chance for better replies suited to my requirements.

You can spend little more ($100-$150) to get Sony camcorder with both NTSC/PAL .Normally u won't get this in electronic shop but you can buy via Internet.
Thanks
