Jake I am pretty happy here in Germany and no plans to come Canada. I am having good job, life style and all the confirt including the Social Security System, which works.

There are Integration program run by govt here, which gives free German Language training too.

Even if I loose job tomorrow, I will be getting my 70% of salary for one year and if required further training in my own field after career counciling.

:-)

Hey Naya,
Thanks for the info. The only thing that i find I do not agree with is that you seem to be associating moving to another country with better job prospects. While this may be true for a lot of people it was not for me. I could see the opportunities that were open to my kids. And i am not talking about just career opportunities. Anyway all this has been mentioned in my prior posts.
I've always liked to go visit Germany and Austria ever since my mother ( who used to live and work in Austria for some time) told me about the place. My mother still speaks a bit of German. According to her too, the people are very warm. And she was there the few years just after ww2. Apart from that, having learnt German(a little) and being exposed(a little:) to the culture I am not really prejudiced about Germanic people. However, the guttural tone of the language (compared to say French) can sound a bit intimidating. Richtig?
BTW: Canada has a similar safety net and you get 8 mths pay if you loose your job(laidoff) through no fault of yours. And its 80% fo the salary until a specified maximum. Quebec has free language training ( even for visitors i think). However, I bet I am more taxed than you are :(

as a sidenote.. got a chance to visit Austria yet?

The numbers are OK. USA is 35 crore and Canada is only 3. So for visual Basic if USA has 1000 jobs we should have 100!

The basic point is - employers in USA are much more accomodative than in Canada. Have you ever heard the word "Amercian Experience" or "American Education" is required before you get a job in your field?

Our engineers coming on Spouse Visa are getting jobs directly without much problem. In Canada this seems a dream for most of people.

Agreed. I cant remember a time I was in USa (4 1/2 years) that anybody asked we where i was educated from or where i worked. All they wanted was references and thats about it. although that must have changed now, still that particular american attitude is sadly lacking in Canada.

I once made a mistake, but I was wrong about it.
