Here one more thing that make difference.
When hurricane strikes New Orleans that wind speed was 185mile/hr. Rain or hurricane make lot of difference more than the total water of ground.

Most probably, written by a mentally sick Indian with big inferiority complex.

Anyway, it is a selective comparison looking at only those factors selectively that favor Bombay.

Mumbai rains
Facts compiled by you are good and show the differences between New Orleans and Mumbai. But note the following

1. New Orleans is below the sea level
2. It is protected by the leeves and they breached
3. Most of the water came in from the sea ( not all from rain )
4. There is no way the water can go back
5. Mumbai is above sea level and the water drained out over time

Your facts are totally scr*wed-up. I was vacationing in Mumbai between Aug 2nd and Sep 7th (lucky me !!!). I experienced the aftermath & relief operations 1st hand.

Even after 15 days, there were places in Mumbai which went without electricity and water. Infact when Sonia Gandhi visited some of those places around mid-August (for just 15 minutes), the residents of Kurla told her - Mataji, we don't want anything from you, all we want you to do is drink the same water that we are drinking. They poured her a glass of water - it was yellowish.

I talked to people who were stranded all nite in a local train, or had to walk thru almost chest-deep water for a few hours before they could get home. You'd feel sorry for them after listening to their stories.

Animal carcasses were lying on the road for almost a week after the rains.

If you say the Indian Army & Navy was out there in 12 hours, what did they do.
