Hi,
Recently i came accross this site and found to be very informative.I have got a fare idea about the PR process after reading various FAQ's and the answers given by experts.I recently got a Immg Visa and as everyone does i have to land is canada, apply for PR and will have to return to INDIA for resuming my service. I have the following queries.
1) I will be landing in toronto in 2nd week of nov,2003. Is this right time or shall i make it in Jan,2004 as my friend told me tht nov-Jan is vacation period and might delay PR processing? Pls advise
2) As u have clarified tht for new immigrants PR card will be deliveried thru mail at canadian address, I want to be there for 7/10 days complete any formalities and come back to india so tht my bro can collect the PR card and courier it to me in india. But i was told by my brother tht while leaving canada also PR card is required bcz the Immgration officals swipe this card to record my exit date. Is this true?

Thanks in advance
kotul

Come in November and return to India. Winter is milder than January and you won't need PR card to leave Canada.

Thankyou sir for the prompt reply.
Can you please let me know the funds i need to get during this short visit.Bcz generally they say its CD10000. Since my brothers family is there and my stay there will be short can i get minimum funds?
Will the Immg. officials insist on some fixed amount irrespective of period of stay?

It is always safe to carry the the minimum funds required with you. Though C$10,000 is the minimum funds required per CIC, you may have to carry the amount you showed in your application (if you had shown more).

If you don't have the required funds, you may still be able to land if you are able to convince the immigration officer. However, it maybe risky.

You will not be given any discount for having relative in Canada and beware of telling the officer that you are coming for only a few weeks/days. The officer can make a determination that your intention is not to settle and may not let you land. Will give you visitor entry for 6 months.

You have been warned. It's simple. Just bring the amount required and take it back with you if you don't use it.

Hi,

I saw this thread recently and i find similar to my condition.
Last year i landed in Canada just to establish my PR. I just stayed there for 4 days and came back to India immediatly. I know that you dont need PR card when u leave Canada. Also it takes 30 days to get the PR card. So i gave my friend address there in Canada and he said he cannot post back the PR card by post. Since it is the property of Canada and you cannot lend to other or send by courier or postal. But luckly my friend planning to come India be 3 month later and he brought the card with him and gave it to me.

Now iam planning to go back to Canada to settle down. Can any one tell what are the dcoumnets or things i need to carry so that they will be no problem in the immigration department . I have with me the PR card and the SIN card . Is this ok?? Iam planning to Land in Vancouver this time. Last time i landed in Toronto. Is that landing in Vancouver by january is a good time. how will be the climate there? how will be job prospect at that time?

Any reply will be appreciated.

Thanks
Bava Mani
