How many days it will take to obtain a SIN Card and also a PR card after we land and apply for the same. Can we ask them to post the PR card to a Canadian address or we should personally collect it.
My daughter will be landing with us and can she leave the country immediately after landing - how many days minimum she has to stay to complete the process as we would like her to return back without any delay as she will be missing her school
Please advise
* It takes 3-4 weeks to get these cards.
* You will get both cards by mail ( this is the normal procedure for new immigrants).
* Your daughter can leave very same day (if she needs to) but before she leave I would suggest her to apply for SIN. There are no minimum stay requirements to get these cards.
Thanks and regards.

Thanks for your reply. I heard from a Lawyer based in Kuwait that the new rule for issuing the PR card is that the person has to personally collect it. How long since you have received your PR card ? Is it recent ?
Thanks once again for your reply.
Hi,
I agree with Biomed.
For the new immigrants, they mail the PR card. I got my PR card by mail in March 2004.
Thats right both our cards came in the mail, though the PR card took six weeks. Recived it last week.

>>Just so you know, there are cases where newly landed immigrants are >>being asked to collect their PR cards in-person.
>>This is being done to ensure that people don't simply land and then >>leave.
>>This is especially true for those immigrants who are landing by road >>from the US - I know of a few people who were asked to pick up their >>cards by appointment in-person.
Also on the same lines that there are rules where you can apply for a travel paper if at all ( worst case scenario) she is called for a personal appointment to pick up her PR card.
Do we have anybody who has had to apply for a travel paper. I am asking this because I have a seriously ill father in-law and wanted to have some information. If any of the senior Cd members could help, it would be a very valuable information for us.
