Dear Desis,
Can things to follow be sent in two or three shipment instead of once.
Please advice.
Yes ! It could be but generally not recommneded as it might be difficult for customs to track what is already gone in and what is coming more ..

We will find a way or we will make one
Yes, you can send goods in two or three (or even more) installments after you land, PROVIDED you have declared them all in your Goods to Follow List.
So if you are getting some stuff from, say, Saudi Arabia and some from India thru different shippers, you just provide a consolidated list of Goods to Follow (where possible list items arriving in 1 shipment togther).
When your first shipment lands, Customs will go over your list and the shipping details and stroike out the items arrived, they will stamp on your Goods to Follow List the items that have arrived. The same procedure can be applied to your other shipments until ALL your goods have landed.
I am not sure if there is any specific time period within which your goods have to arrive, but I have heard some people have brought in goods about 2 years after they landed.
Dear smiley and canadian dreams,
Thank you for your reply. It was of great help.My family is expected to land in June.Initilay I want to send only the essential items.Later on I am planning to send other items depending on the apartment size. Both will be sent from saudi arabia only.We landed for the first time in feb 2005.Got the things to follow list stamped by customs.
does anyone know what would be the cheapest way to bring household used items from India to Canada by ship or air...of course as per CBSA nominal duty has to be paid...but how to bring...does anyone hv any experience ....pls share your exp?
When you give Customs a list put lots of extra stuff on it so that after you land and you realise you need more stuff it makes it easy.

You know you are a desi when ........ You spew forth the virtues of India, but don't want to live there...............You've never had a tanning salon membership
but I have been here in canada for last 4 1/2 years...could not bring when I lande plus also when I visited India in march after my citizenship. I mentioned during my trip back on the Embarkation card that I had stuff to bring but the CBSA failed to give me E25 form. So when I called them up they regretted it was their fault that they overlooked that I mentioned I had personal effects to bring back but nothing can be done once I walked out of Pearson. Now they would charge nominal duty on household items. Can you guys tell me the cheapest way to bring - air - how much? plus who will do packing for books, mandir, brass items, etc.
