Dear Massodji

Hai we are in Dubai with PR for tha last one year, On our First landing the Custom officer did not check our Baggauge or things to follow , we will be landing in Toronto as a Final settelment in June do you think if we have any problem with our baggauge

Shaheena,

Massood is an immigration lawyer. From what it looks like, your question is about baggage.

The baggage question should be directed at the general forum, not Massood. I am moving it to the "Moving Soon" section.

Hi, shaheena1 have you decided to leave your job and move to Canada? Since you have decided to appear for the exam in your field, will it not be wiser to appear for it and then decide? Unless you will pass your exam you will not be allowed to work anywhere in Canadian hospitals or clinics. Other jobs are so tough that you will not have any energy to study. Once you land in Toronto visit michener library you will come across few people sitting for the same exam as yours. Ps: I am not a X ray tec.

Hi,

Wonder if you got the information you were looking for. When you stay out of Canada for a continous calendar year, you are considered a former resident of Canada for customs purposes and will have be able to bring your personal effects duty free just as in the case of a new permanent resident.

Thanks for posting the link. What a relief !!
The question remains if there is a difference between a former resident and a non resident.
Any ideas?
