Hello All,
My sposuse has recently detected with Hypo thyroid , Doctor has recommended with 50 MCG of synthorid , also a bit diabetic, no medication is required ( 160 uml or something in diabetic test) but must excersie and follow the diet,

As the thyroid (TSH is 7 now) can be brought under control by medication , and there is no medication taken for diabetic do you think will be any chance of passing the medicals ?

I know it is not right, but I really want to migrate to Canada and it is always a dream ,
so if we lie saying that we don't have any medical problems is that going to be a concern,
I am +ve that as the medications are taken thyroid will not be shown in the blood, and due to excerise and diet diabetic result may not show up in the medical result,

Concern is can we hide something and take a chance ? or is it better to say the facts and regret
Please advice

I don't know about the hypo-thyroidism, but I am pretty sure that the sugar would show up in the blood and urine samples.
If your spouse is taking medication currently, that will also very likely show up in the urine.
What will you do then?
CHC will most likely order further and more detailed tests and then the cat will be out of the bag.

I hope you are also aware that if it is found that you lied on your application, your case will be rejected without a second thought.

Medical grounds do not usually disqualify people - it usually required further tests and additional delays, but a lot of people with medical issues successfully immigrate.

I am neither a lawyer nor a doctor, so I cannot tell you what to say on the application - but I wanted you to be aware that the condition will probably be detected during tests.

It is your call.

Medication is taken for thyroid only , both are recently discovered and thyroid medication is taken and c as per the doctor it should be normal in a month or so !

Diabetes no medication is taken , only diet and excersie is recommended, so one way to put is we don't know that we had diabetic condition before
If we are lucky we can pass through the diabetic condition !
Is it worth taking taking the risk ?

Medication for thyroid per month costs less than $40 per month,
and it has to be taken for ever ,

Very confusing weather to state the facts or hide them ? Atleast the diabetic part is it ok to hide and if they are shown in the Results , well then we have to face it !

Thanks for the reply Pratickm

If We openly say the truth I am not sure if there will be any adavantage

I am not sure if the doctor will have the access to the US medical Records, If they have the access then they will be able to read the medical condition,

For diabetes CIC does not reject your application. So, it should not be your concern anyway. For thyroidism, is also not an infectious disease, that should also not be of concern. If your doctor advice that condition will be OK in a month, your medical will atleast take couple of months. Any abnormality will not appear in medical. It is a wrong conception that CIC look for disorder in medical reports to reject case. If that was true parents with mentaly challenged children would not be allowed immigration, but it is not true. I know 2 cases where parents got immigration despite of child's condition. Even if it is infectious disease like TB they ask for treatment to be taken at home country and followup treatment at Canada. I know one case detected TB at India however was allowed immigration after treatment. IMO declare what is true at the time of application.

For Medicals : You dont need to state anything, During my medicals my doctor didnt ask me what problems or diseases i had, They would do a thorough test themselves and send the report across, You wont be able to know the content of the reports as well, At least my doc said she wont say although she said No worries

Secondly just make sure once your medicals are done ask your doc to send results by Registered post, my doc was in medical board of CIC and she knew that lots of med reports get lost hence did the same.

AFAIK, they do not access medical records via the MIB in the US.
But the thyroid medication might show up in the urine test.
I don't think your PR visa will be rejected just because your spouse is taking thyroid medication.
As for diabetes - it is so common that a lot of people above the age of 30 are either borderline diabetic or pre-diabetic.
I don't think that will cause rejection either.

The only ones that have a serious risk of rejection are communicable diseases like AIDS or those that are likely to place a severe strain on the public health system.

But it is your call - I don't want to tell you what to do because your decision will have lifelong implications for you.
