My "fav" is The Doors. When i was in India recently, I saw Gary Lawyer, have you heard of him?, do his impersonation of Jim M and sing "Road House Blues". He was very good. He also recited some of his poetry. Have any of you seen the movie "The Doors" starring Val Kilmer? Excellent movie.

Amazing that you should know Gary Lawyer. He was famous for his Jim Morrisson impression way back in the 70's. Saw him impersonate Jim at Rang Bhavan back in themdays. I also saw him a few years ago again at Rang Bhavan where he was part of a huge line-up that paid tribute to Bob Dylan on his 60 th b'day. Think it was 2001.
Bombay had some great musicains in those dum maro dum days that did amazing covers of the then Dada groups like Led Zep, Jethro Tull, The doors etc. They even had their version of Woodstock at Khandala.
Yeah man, truckin' down memory lane!
I don't know if you guys know the song Dancing in the Streets done by The Mamas and the Papas (then by Martha and the Vandellas and then Mick Jagger). The song's lyrics were about everybody from NYC to LA dancing and the desi version was about everybody from Delhi to Bombay to Bangalore dancing. Man, them were carefree college days.
Just waitin' for the day when i can really dance in the streets without a real care in the world once again.
I guess ain't we all!

Dear Mr BKB,
I was looking for the thread where you had posted Today's staffing address, but looks like it has got put on the back burner. I just wanted to thank you and let you know that 2 out of 5 friends of mine that applied have got jobs thru them starting Oct 18 at the company Unisen. One in the GIC dept and the other in the RRSP dept. Both arrived this year and were doing menial tasks.
Does anybody know of anybody hiring for IT specialists?
So not to break the original title of this thread. Does anybody enjoy Hip Hop, like M&M? I think they are superb!
Have to rush, just really wanted to thank BKB. My friends tell me they are hiring 2nd batch for Nov 1, if anybody is interested.

Actually Brits do take the cake as far as big acts go...
But initially they all copied american Blues...specifically black american blues.
Since the american Public may not have been ready for it.....Ironically The British musicans did the job of making it popular through out the world and It finally entered mainstream in American. Remember Rock music at its core Is basically Blues.
Even Hendrix didnt become popular in American till he had toured Britain.
So to sum up....
The Gurus are -- The Black American Blues Players
The Worthy Chelas are the British Rock Musicians of the 60s......

I once made a mistake, but I was wrong about it.

Are you there?
I had a chance to meet with Ian Paice (drummer for Depp Purple) when they were here in To a few months ago....not at the concert but the next day he was at a local music shop (Long and Mcquade , Brampton) for a Drum clinic. Basically there were 50 people and he was promoting a drum company's new drum sets. People asked questions and he asnwered them very politely and with lots of that English wit. Very soft spoken. I asked him how he felt about richie Blackmore. He said that Blackmore is a very arrogant person in that for him the views of other people doesnt mean much (musically speaking) and so he left the band.
Then he showed us some of his chops....Holy shit, it was fantastic. Sitting 2 feet fromhim and seeing it was a thrill. Later I took his autograph and went home.
