Even Pooja Bhatt's movie with Bipasha Basu (was it Paap?) was a big hit. I guess that must make it a great movie too. (Btw, its funny to see little Pooja follow in footsteps of Daddy, copying sleazy "phoren" movies without a trace of shame and then proclaiming intellectual superiority over the rest of India )
As far as liking SRK is concerned, I have no problem accepting that this is a highly subjective matter. I probably can never convince you that SRK can't act and I won't even try. All I'm saying is I can't stand him, would suffice to say that I thought Saif Ali outclassed him in every department of the movie, he was actually the next best thing in the movie, after the title song (which was really good). Sorry to say but I was laughing out loud at what you are calling some of the "most emotionally gripping scenes in the movie", especially when SRK runs out of his hospital in patient garb when he's really down with cancer. Oh wait!!! Was it "laughing out loud" or "ready to puke"?
Salman agrees with me...

On a somewhat related note, happened to see Guide yesterday again after a long time. What an amazing movie! No fake emotions on display by super-rich super humans living in some foregin land singing cheesy songs trying to parrot chewed up American words like "cool", "babe" etc etc. Instead, a masterpiece foray into the twisted world of the complexity that is human psyche. You hear Waheeda singing "Aaj phir jeene ki tamanna hai" and you know the song is straight from the heart of a manic depressive poet who actually felt those emotions, not a money-minded yuppie song writer with a fancy Roland and dollar signs on his sunglasses
Of course, you can't expect every movie to be a masterpiece, but is it too much to expect a movie made by intelligent people once in a while? One movie per year isn't enough for me.
All these views with the understanding that its all a matter of one's own preference. I'm not imposing mine on others, I'm just expressing it.

Are you there?
Yes its all the more subjective BL but then so is everyting . 1 man's poison is another man's food !!
I agree SRK is nt an actor . An actor portrays various characters unlike his sterotyped ones .Sanjeev Kr , Om Puri , Nana Patekar r actors . SRK also agrees --- he has recently admitted that the stakes on him are always so high that he cant afford 2 experiment . Aamir Khan is an actor.
Yeah I read abt Sallu's statement & KJs reaction . Speaks about them in volumes . U r right only Sallu agrees .
I didnt see Paap but I think that eunuch movie(Tum aaye to ..gali mein chand nikala ) & Jism were intellectually superlative movies . Jism was not just sleaze -- it did connect a message 2 the audience .
No I didnt laugh @ the climax scene after that Gujju -Punju song no. (which was a major rave hit --- aaja maahi re --sets ur feet tapping doesnt it ) .Or either when in the post hospital scenes . Neither did I observe a single audience giggling @ the sequence . Another of emotionally capturing sequence is the mother - son conversation wherein they both know that he is dying --- SRK speaks with his eyes only .
U know BL ud be surprised if I tell u that I used 2 detest SRK 4 years back . And more . But its changed with time .
