One can still get settled here given the right skills (Tech, Finance, Construction, Landscapers, etc.), and the Province has much to offer in terms of the quality of life - clean air, more healthier lifestyle than the rest of Canada, less populated, and much to see all around with a great weather (no snow, windchills, and/or negative temperatures), coupled with excellent and good rating Educational Institutes (UBC, SFU, BCIT, UVic, UNBC, etc.). There are many people I know that are highly paid and doing absolutely fine. It's all about timing and when they landed. But, given the gap between the wages and the cost of housing THESE days, it's not advisable for a newcomer, though you can still try. It's a beautiful city, nevertheless.
You just can't compare it with GTA that houses virtually all Canadian headquarter, thus a better chance to land a job in your field.
Victoria and Nanaimo are a ferry ride from Vancouver, but don't house many companies or where you could obtain the high paying jobs. Vancouver is where the action is. Though the cost of living is not high on Vancouver Island, so are the (lesser) quality of jobs and wages. As they say, these two cities are for 'Newly Wed (honeymooners) or Nearly Dead (Retirees from all over Canada)'.
Sorry. Wrong thread...

In place of being happy about it, it is disheartening to to hear them complaining about being vegetarians and missing all meat based protein, iron etc., etc.,
There are loads and loads of cases who got better after switching to Vegan (one latest example is Mike Tyson).... and you complain about getting in the unhealthy race and you influence your kid to follow.

People discouraged you because you are about to give up what you have (job as lecturer in India) in exchange for something totally uncertain.
You are saying you will not qualify to work as a lecturer and would like to utilize your MBA. Do you have any work experience based on the MBA? Entry level position in most fields will be difficult, especially when your degree is not from Canada and you have no relevant experience also. We live in the age of the internet, all job postings are online, there are lot of forums, as opposed to couple of decades ago where you had to rely on word of mouth when making your immigration decision. I guess you have made up your mind to land, so all the best for your journey though.

As you have experience in the Teaching, Mentoring, Training, and Learning areas, you can easily transition into the Learning Technologies and Development, Content Management. Many big corporations have these positions either within their HR Functional and/or IT departments. You need to position your experience (not falsify) in such a way as to strongly reflect upon your Mentoring, Training, and other related functional areas. There is a huge demand of Functional Consultant in Learning Tech sector as well as Universities/Schools/Community Colleges.
So, instead of venturing into a brand new Career, just focus on your core strengths, highlight the MBA, may as well obtain the PMP Certification, work on your resume, and last but not the least the communication skills (written/verbal).

Please try DeGroot School of Business 8 months course. It is an accelerated course. Also find out if there is a Co-Op Program. It pays you while you study. All of these are feasible for an Entrant with a Previous MBA background.
You cannot thank me enough after 9 months. Please remember that after you land here you will be a PR.
Good Luck.
