I have been with this Dr for about 9 years now. He has his own + and -ves.

But recently it baffled me when he said we can address only one issue at one visit with Dr. I mean common, we wait 3 weeks to get an apptmt, then we wait 2 hrs to meet him and then we are told discuss one issue in one visit. Oh doctor I have cough but for blood test I will come next visit ???!!!

He says this is ministries guidelines he has to follow ? is it ? something new ? Where can I check ? and if not where can I complaint ? Now i know that they get paid based on visit but even then seems unfair to me from a customers point of view...well i agree dont go with a whole list of things as other patients are waiting but strictly following one at a time is going too far in my opinion. Thoughts ? Experiences ?

It's onomatopoeic (did i spell that right?!) for the sound an old fashioned cash register used to make when a sale was made.

Dear Aashu,

Please, please drop that idea of complaining to other authorities.

It is because of the OHIP has created this System, that makes us all sick in our stomach. We have to learn to live with it. Also it is a money making proposition to the Doctors.

By this, they want YOU to prioratize your ailments, you just bring it to the top, which one merits most attention on the day of the visit and find or look for the cure for it.

For a long long while people do not even visit doctors, not even once an year for an ANNUAL Check up. Then when the problems start they come in THREES and want a universal cure for all of them with one medicine or with a ONE SHOT DEAL. It is not possible.

Well, you have a choice. But it is a cartel and the Government is the one paying for it. (It is our money, and we slowly piddle it away)

FH.

He needs an office, a few rooms for the patients and a secretary and a computer system to take care of it and they have to train a few of the upcoming QUACKS on the side. Yes, it costs money too. We are short of these Doctors, hence my request. Wait till we have tons of them. Then we can pick and choose. (I am a dreamer)

There is a Dr at Weston and Major Mac ( Dr. Farah Khan ) who is accepting new patients as a family Dr . We have been with her for almost two years and quite happy .

Thanks ashwaniG...how r kids ?

I know her, been there few times. I am not unhappy with my dr. Just this new thing frustrates me. There are advantages of sticking to your own doctor who knows your history i guess, unless major issues. She has now longer waiting periods too.

OHIP has created a system, where by the Doctors get paid per visit.

So, your Doctor says,"One complaint per visit".

Now for Kacheng Kacheng. They are making money, from yours and mine, whether I/we visit (or not.) Because there are many who are visiting, every other week for an ailment, are paying from the money that all of us have paid in our taxes.

Adults, after a certain age, manage their own health problems all by themselves and with the help of over the counter medicines from the Pharmacy. Some of them, and the percentage could be more, do not even visit the Doctors for once an year Physical check up. So, all of these adults who do not visit are also made to pay for theose who visit often, because, the money is there at their disposal to take care of the bills.

For a long long time, health care was FREE and the money that they raised was from the GST-PST-HST etc., that we paid for small purchases and it came out of it. So, people who were poor and just afforded only groceries did not pay for health care as there was no tax on foods. Only on luxuries. Yes, Potato Chips and Pop was a luxury. High priced Autos attracted more taxes. You got the drift I suppose....

Don't forget, for a long time in Ontario we did not pay a $1000/year up front in the taxes, so it was coming out of the General Funds. Now they are RICH and can afford to pay and the Doctors are enjoying the revenues. Because of the additional flow of funds from the Taxes we pay DIRECTLY.

Now to the point WHY? The Medical field has been a closed cartel and the Doctors have been holding us for a ransom and have NOT been allowing people to enter into this profession. That is called a closed cartel.

Now they are slowly opening up this field to others, and in some cases to foreign trained Doctors. Also they have agreed to train new students in their practice in their own offices. Whenever I visit mine, there is always a Doctor from Korea or from Vietnam and one from India too. All of these are considered, in my books, as the generosity from their heart. So, they are slowly releasing the death grip that they have been having on this profession and thereby, hopefully, will be more Doctors for all of us, in the future.

All of this is facilitated by his/her maintaining a big office, a few rooms for the learners under his tutilage, and with the use of a few inter connected Computers and with the assistance of a secretary who manages all of the visits and medical files, phone and billing. I am sure it costs a few bucks and in my opinion I feel he needs it and has to generate enough revenue to pay for all of these essentials.

Does this explain the picture that I wanted to present. I hope so.

So, please do not complain about this to anyone, till we have more Doctors and each and everyone gets to have a Family Physician. We all are paying for all of this and some thing more.

And SOME THING MORE, what is that... It is the equipment that they have loaded into these hospitals that is worth in BILLIONS and when you ask them, they say that they do not have any money to operate them in two or three shifts. Which means, that we have expensive hospitals with state of the art equipment and we cannot pay for any help to run it. What happens next is even too shameful to mention, we will have to wait in a queue to get to use it and they say there is not enough money to pay a doctor to do an operation on you for some services. That has creeated yet another queue for essential operations. What happens if some one does not make it to the operating table??!! That is another topic for discussion for another day.

FH.

Do you want to know about more cartels? OIL, Building Architecture, Professional Engineers, Unionized jobs, Firemen and so on and so forth... Yes, canada has selective immigration and what is that...?
